Hey everyone!!!

Okay so I've lived here in San Diego for about 2 years now and still don't know very many people who go wheelin. So I was thinking we should have a Meet & Greet at some place that works good for everyone to check everyones rig out maybe grab some drinks and some food bring the family and meet everyone.

I know we do this on the trail but some times not everyone can get away for that long, and who knows we could plan a good trail ride from the Meet & Greet.

I was thinking like San Diego, Escondido, Oceanside, Fallbrooke, Visita, Temecla ....somewhere in that area. I know its hard for us all together but it could be a fun time.

You can try to get Trampas to man up. Problem seems to be that everyone has a problem with all the Sept dates.

I'm down, a meet and greet sounds like a great idea! Maybe we can get together some info from the other thread going about local trails too to share with everybody. I'm new down here and it can be a little difficult to follow where exactly all these places are at and what difficulty they are

I'm thinking maybe somewhere in San Diego or Escondido? depends on how many people live down here in the SD area? BUt I think Escondido would be more of a central location.

How does the 29th or the first weekend of Oct sound like to everyone? Don't know of a place to have it at yet so if anyone has any good ideas lets hear them.

First weekend in Oct is the off road expo, doubt you'll get many people to attend if you do have it that weekend. either have a M&G at the expo, or an after party thing, or just an entirely different weekend all together.

Sounds like a good date to me. I really don't know the area and couldn't tell you where Truckhaven or anything else is.

What type of wheeling do you guys do around here? I'm in San Marcos.

To get to Truckhaven from San Marcos take Hwy 78 east to Santa Ysabel.
At Santa Ysabel take a left onto Hwy 79 north. Go appx. 12 miles to S-2
and make a right turn. Go appx. 7 miles to S-22 and make a left turn. Follow
S-22 through Borrego Springs. Appx. 25 miles east of Borrego Springs you
will cross the San Diego county line and enter Imperial county. At that point
there's a microwave tower on the north (left) side of S-22. Appx. 1.1 miles
east of the microwave tower is where we usually camp, on the north (left)
side of S-22. The wheeling area is in the hills to the north of the camp.

j.kimball

wheeling out there is primarily mud hills and notches, although if you know where to look, there are some rocks to be found. As for camp, where we camp it is a short drive to the trails but, we wheel all the way there. It is a blast out there, hurry up and get the yota trail worthy and come on out!

Here's a link to some pics of wheelin at Truckhaven.

There's no "campground" close by. It's just open desert, so you camp where you want.
There are just no facilities, so you need to bring everything, including water.

The big event you're thinking about is probably Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari
which is the first saturday in March.

I can't get there before 7pm cause I have to work today. I'm all packed
and drove the motorhome into work. We're camping on the north side of
S-22 about 1.1 miles east of the microwave tower. There's a big point of
land that sticks out to the north with cliffs on both sides. We'll be about
100 yards west of that.
