I am trying this picture thing for the first time, hope it will work. I have been following the discussions for some time and you people like to play with different axle setups. I am looking for the best was to upgrade or swap out the stock axles. I have been running 35x14.5 boggers on this thing for some time and have not had any breakage problems so far. The thing flexes so well it just crawls over everything. I do carry four spare axles though. I would like to get it setup so I can be more agressive with the trottle without worrying. I am not concerned about staying original land rover, and also want to widen the track 2-4". Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, the cheaper the better.

SNIP OS slips these in:

OK, someone help. Why did this not work. I now see under "forum rules" at the bottom that I may not use attachements. Why not?

You need a star to upload to the POR server. You can use an image tag for a pic on another server. Send them to me and I will post them for you. My e-mail is one button on the bottom of this post.

There has been a ton of talk about Dana axles (D44 and D60) here. The use of the search button will most likely find the answers to all of your questions. If not were here to help.

Ohh and welcome neighbor/newbie!:flipoff2:

NICE! Get some close-up shots of the front and rear upper mounts! I'd love to see what you did with your fender-wells and rear deck.

Check with Adam...He's done a 44 conversion using the SG 3-link (in principle). Adam's mods are probably the closest to what your wanting/looking for.

Rover1, let me know if you want pictures. Feel free to check my site (under "profile" it has a link). Happy to send you whatever I have and snap more pictures of anything you are wondering about. D44 is significantly stronger than a rover axle and will be fine with 35s. I may put CTMs in mine after a while. I am anxious to see if I can break the thing. Been wheelin on it bvery hard with no consideration for the axles and it is a very nice feeling. A Jeep Wagoneer axle will be a good fit and has a passenger side drop differential. I have all of the measurements and templates of brackets.

P.S. Welcome!

I am happy to post them and modify them to size. If they are on the internet already, just hit the "IMG" button. A new window will pull up. Make sure to copy the URL address of your picture by right clicking on it on the other site. Cut and paste that address in and you will not need anyone elses help. Or you could pay $20 and be able to post pictures and contribute to the list. The money goes towards upgradings servers, etc. making the list better. I recommend getting a red star it is really worth it. For the mean time send the pictures to me. I save your coil over rovers to my hard drive anyways. Might as well just save the emails and post them for you :)

You need portals.

Screw D44s or D60/D70. For the same price you can get some C303s. Stock driveshafts bolt up and you get 6in of lift and clearance and dual vacuum lockers for the price of two rover arbs, a compressor and some HD rear axles. Since I pussed out and am putting them on my series and not a coil spring rover you would be the first.

Other options are scout or waggy D44s. Strange rover did scouts but waggys are offset in the back. Cherokee (the big old ones) are like waggys only wider ~63in which would probably work out better for you.

Eatons are also great rears and I have one for sale if you are interested :)
