Another problem with my truck.
At highway speeds between 50-60 mph or so it has a bad vibration. It's on a 88 IFS EXTRACAB pickup.... I still need to check the wheel balance, see if they are out of balance significantly. it's quite uncomfortable driving though.
What else could cause this? It's only at highway speeds as mentioned, not at any other time.

Maybe the u joints, what size tires are you running?

start with the tires and go from there. u joints should be checked too. its kinda hard to say if the tires arent for sure...

I'll check into the wheels/tires and see if that fixes anything...

Check:
1) Wheel / tire balance & pressure
2) U-joints
3) Driveshaft balance

What would cause the driveshaft to go out of balance? I haven't driven the truck in any really rough offroad situations, and nothing before it started vibrating.
I will check the wheel/tire balance and u joints. Tire pressure is all equal.

You could knock the balance wieght off , start with a tire balance , and go thru the whole front end and make sure that its ALL tight .

Listen, I just went through that on my rig. It only has 37,000 on it and I wouldn't have thought the u-joints would have been as bad as they were. My co-worker had the same problem, and his was the carrier bearing going out. I got under the truck after setting the parking brake and putting it in neutral and trying to wiggle the drive shaft back and forth to look for slack, and not seeing anything significant. I went ahead and ordered all u-joints and carrier brg, whene I pulled both shafs and dissasembled them two u-joints were shot to heck. Both bone dry with cracked cup's and broken needles in them. Relpaced them and "WOW" what a difference! Good to go.
