I'm about to tow two 12' u-haul trailers with a 5.3L and a 6.0L vortec fully loaded about 600 miles.

Anyone ever use the "tow/haul" button on your chevy? How did it work for you? On the 6.0L I already have hypertech programming that let me adjust my rev limiter and shift points to +400 rpm.

Anyone have any problems with it?

if you are towing use it. It will save your trans. Pretty sure that GM put it in there for a reason.

I doubt it. They probably just threw it in there to make an extra buck.

Tow/Haul mode enhances performance while pulling a trailer or hauling heavy loads. When activated, this feature modifies the automatic transmission shift schedule and helps reduce throttle pedal activity by the driver while traveling over rolling terrain. A lighted icon on the instrument panel indicates when Tow/Haul mode has been activated.

The only things that tow/haul mode change are the trans shift points and pressures. Which helps save your transmission. Its for people that drive with a heavy trailer in overdrive that were burning up their trans. and GM was paying for it.

I tow with a 5.3 and use it. It adjustes shift points. Also when climbing a hill and it downshifts I drop the shifter out of OD until the top. That way it doesn't float between OD and 3

It also locks your converter starting in 2nd gear, as opposed to without it where you get lockup in 5th only, sometimes 4th.

I use it on the 4.8 (v8) in my '05 1/2Ton.

Makes a decent differance in how it tows. Couldn't tell you exactly what differance it make to the shift points but it just tows 'better'. I did notice that the TQ wasn't doing its lock-unlock thing all the time and that made it worth it.

Kind of fun to drive it that way without the trailer as well..... makes it shift a little more 'firm' :D

Even with the Hypertech Programming I use it towing with my BBC and 4l85E. Noticabiliy inceasing shift firmness and decreases hunting. Basically is always in the right gear with it, instead of trying to be in the tallest gear which is what the normal shift pattern is.

I use it on my 07 1/2 ton when running in the mtns around here, as stated it keeps the tranny from goin in-out of 3rd & OD on the hills, changes shift points.

this is the main thing

But if you drive and the tranny usually shifts at 2500, with the same pressure on the accelerator the tranny will not shift untill about 4500 and instantly lock the converter, the shift feels much firmer
