: F250 Bumper Build
broncodude_73 09-04-2007, 05:38 PM Started off with the brackets and then start buildin' off of them. They bolt to the factory 4 front bolt holes and then to the three old tow hook mounts.

Next, we built the winch box out of some 1/4" plate. We milled out the fairlead holes.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010358.jpg
Then we gusseted the SHIT out of it.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010361.jpg
Mark Threw down some damn good welds.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010365.jpg
Enclosed the rest of the box with some more 1/4".
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010367.jpg
Started buildin' off the box with some 3/16".
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010369.jpg
Finally startin to look like a bumper.

Doin' what he does best.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010381.jpg
All welded up. Now The grindin' starts.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010385.jpg
Machined some big ol' Z71 pull points.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/markfritz/P1010393.jpg
Layed down some fat ass welds on those.

Not to bad for a couple WHITE boys.
willys101_4lo 09-04-2007, 06:49 PM Looks FUCKIN A AWESOME good. Love the way the bodywork melts into the bumper, and vice versa.
I have one concern that you may have already addressed. Where is your access to the remote plug in, and free spool lever? Having spent a lil time buried up to the doors, thats one of the first things I think about and it disturbs me when I don't know where my freespool lever/remote plug-ins are
1tonF100 09-04-2007, 07:00 PM definitely a dayum nice bumper
f250rollinon37s 09-04-2007, 07:04 PM looks good, must have taken a long time getting all the peices to line up right. Did a few that way, now 90% of my shit is one peace bent up - me likes though :D
svt150j49 09-04-2007, 07:42 PM looks good, must have taken a long time getting all the peices to line up right. Did a few that way, now 90% of my shit is one peace bent up - me likes though :D
yeah fuck that one by one shit. ill never do that again.
i really like the way the outersides look... below the headlights. sick build.
broncodude_73 09-04-2007, 07:57 PM Looks FUCKIN A AWESOME good. Love the way the bodywork melts into the bumper, and vice versa.

the free spool lever has a cutout in the top of the bumper so you can reach your hand in there. the remote plug is going to be in the grille.
broncogearhead 09-05-2007, 08:58 AM very nice. you wouldnt happen to have a cad drawing of that would you?:D
been wanting a new front bumper since i got my 350. i'm gonna owe you royalties, i think i wanna make mine similar to yours.
broncodude_73 09-05-2007, 09:40 AM no man we just got bored one day and started building it. made some templates cut um out and just kept buildin off of them
MunkeyTX 09-05-2007, 11:35 AM Damn nice bumper! Wonder how much badassier the tow rig would look with something like that on it!
Only thing I see...how much does it affect airflow to the rad/intercooler?
broncodude_73 09-05-2007, 12:51 PM i made about a 5 hour round trip this past weekend and i didn't notice any change in temperatures
MunkeyTX 09-05-2007, 01:11 PM i made about a 5 hour round trip this past weekend and i didn't notice any change in temperatures
Cool deal.
The only reason I brought that up is because I remember hearing from a Ford tech when the first gen SD's came out (99's), that Ford was having some overheating issues due to aftermarket bumpers restricting airflow to the intercooler/rad.
But then again, how many hundreds upon hundreds of SD's have you seen running all over with the same style bumper, with no issues at all.
Again, good job, good build, where can I get one? :D
BTW, where didja get those smoked headlamps/corner lenses? Are the the factory Harley ones?
Proeliator 09-05-2007, 02:38 PM Looks great, but what does it weigh?
broncodude_73 09-05-2007, 03:37 PM i found the headlights on ebay. my truck is an early 99 and i have had no overheating problems.
I don't have the winch in it yet(waiting on parts to rebuild it, got it used) I installed the bumper by myself I would guess it probably around 80 lbs. but don't hold me to it.
willys101_4lo 09-05-2007, 05:19 PM the free spool lever has a cutout in the top of the bumper so you can reach your hand in there. the remote plug is going to be in the grille.
My concerns are now alleviated. Ignore all comments on concerns, and pay attention only to the props! That thing is so fuckin slick! Totally diggin it, keep up the killer work
broncodude_73 09-05-2007, 07:50 PM thanks! i had said somthin about 80lbs. but im gonna have to say ignore my stupidity and say its prolly more like 120ish
AngryPirate 09-05-2007, 08:22 PM Nice work and nice rig.
whats lift and what size tires you got
Looks real nice.
you got any wheeling shots.
How does the 5.4 liter move it?
you got a manual?
thanks for your help and info
broncodude_73 09-05-2007, 08:54 PM It's a 99 7.3 POWERSTROKE no 5.4 here. 6 speed. 6'' lift danahoe racing front spings and a 2'' cage off-road add-a-leaf rear. Its got big gay 20'' chrome wheels and 36x15.50 MTZ's. I love these tires for what i use the truck for.
It's got a 4'' straight pipe, intake, and 140 horse chip. By no means is it a "fast" truck, but it moves alright.
It's my daily driver and my tow rig it pulls my 73 bronco with ease and thats all that really matters.
broncodude_73 09-05-2007, 09:04 PM this is the best wheelin pic that i have of it that doesn't include mud
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u81/hurricaneoffroad/coloradosummer072094.jpg
We were running some trails in colorado this summer. the Truck literally beat us to death, so it stayed with the trailer most of the time.
I do love the granny gear with the t case in low and all the torque off the diesel.
AngryPirate 09-06-2007, 10:11 AM dam that v8 symbol on the fender threw me off
mud shots are cool with me
Danger_Ranger18 09-06-2007, 01:21 PM is it weird that i have an erection after seeing that
willys101_4lo 09-06-2007, 05:11 PM dam that v8 symbol on the fender threw me off

Those are those pesky powerstroke V8 badges on the fenders. I can see how it is confusing
Damn ford for putting those on those trucks
:grinpimp:
broncodude_73 09-06-2007, 06:20 PM thanks for all the comments guys. i'll try to keep up with the other builds like rear bumper, maybe sliders/steps, front ball joint joint D60 swap, different wheels and tires, 4.10 gears, eaton electric lockers, etc...
MunkeyTX 09-06-2007, 07:01 PM I'd be veeeerrry interested in seeing a slider build up.
I hate to say it but I've high centered my SD more times than I care to count, the lower door sill pinch welds are all bent and fubared. Would be nice to have something sturdy to fall on!
rfr002 09-07-2007, 05:14 AM Damn nice looking bumper, Shelby. Be carefull, though. It looks like your turning your tow rig into your wheeler.
broncodude_73 09-07-2007, 05:44 AM I know I think because I see all these bad ass truggys, and because i can't stand to have the same thing everybody else has got.
broncodude_73 09-07-2007, 12:55 PM pullin stuff

Proeliator 09-07-2007, 05:57 PM I installed the bumper by myself I would guess it probably around 80 lbs..
Good deal, thats not too bad, I would have guessed heavier. Looks damn good

oregon_mudrunner 09-10-2007, 11:59 PM What did you have to change to put the 05 grille in?
broncodude_73 09-11-2007, 05:31 AM you just have to find some way to attach the lower portion of the grill everything else lines up
