: Drop pitman on a ZJ??

I already tried to search can't find the answer. I am in the middle of installing long arms and Currie H.P. 9" axles front and rear.
We put the front in and the steering is stretched to the limit of the joints (8" total lift) I will be fabbing a high steer with a one piece tierod but not for a couple months. I am considering a drop pitman arm to lessen the steering angles but the track bar won't be in the same plane any longer how important is this. Should I make a bracket to drop the trackbar? Last question any thoughts on increased leverage pulling the steering box right off my pretend frame (unibody)??
TIA Jeff

A drop pitman arm is hard on the unibody. Better build a steering box brace if you use one. If you don't lower the trackbar mount on the frame or raise it on the axle after doing the drop pitman arm bumpsteer will be a problem. If you lower the trackbar mount on the frame it will add a bunch of stress also. You best bet is to do the hi steer as soon as possible and raise the track bar to match...

Many folks run XJ's and ZJ's with large amounts of lift without having to mess with steering....

the important thing is to keep the trackbar and draglink angles as parallel to each other as possible.....

one thing that may help is to build yourself a linkage system that looks like a sideways V than the stock "inverted Y" thing that's goig on....

I know a lot of guys who spent a bunch of money chasing their steering problems around. but, at 8" of lift. IT AINT GONNA DRIVE STOCK so don't expect it to, leave the steering alone if you can help it.

if you are building custom axles why wouldn't you put on a high angle crosover style steering. check avalanche engeneering for ideas.
