: How accurate is Desktop Dyno 2000?

I'm messing with building a 350 for my DD, and I'm using Dektop Dyno 2000 to try some cam/head choices. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever plugged their configuration in to this after having their motor dyno'ed, and how close it was.

I plugged my combo in but I haven't dyno'd or run the quarter so I don't know how close it is. I did plug in a friend's combo and based on his ET and MPH it is pretty close. The more specific you are with cam and head data the closer it will be. Nice thing about it is that you can try different things without spending any money on parts. :smokin:

There about 5-15% high most of the time! I've seen a few real pulls vs DD specs and all say It's just a tool. It works great for figuring out were peak HP and TQ will be. I've built two motors using it for picking CR and valve size, cam specs and cam timing. Both motors work great! It's the best 40.00 you can spend when building a custom engine!

Any one care to burn / give me a copy of it?

Try this on for size.

It is a older version so it won't have all the new cam #'s in but you can type them in yourself.

OMG that program is bad ass. it wants to know every detail tho and you cant get up to the second increases or decreases in HP. but i will be using that program often. Thanks. BTW do you know where i could get a newer version maybe?

Try Kazaa for 'shareware' I've seen newer versions there, and let me know if you needcam/head files, I'll send 'em to you.

I using it to "rough in" the motor I'm going to put together. looks like about 390'ish ft-lbs of torque and a nice flat torque curve. I need the torque to get this whale moving!

This what it said my old 383 should have done. It looks like what I was told to expect.

I doubt you're going to see that kind of power and torque coming out of a set of 333882 heads....sorry:(

That's one of the things that got me wondering about this.

Yeah....well the desktop dyno's are only as accurate as their programming. I have had the same engine put in two different programs and got extremely different results.

I bought mine at a local speed shop.
