: 9"
mdapperdan 09-05-2007, 05:13 PM I will try again. I posted this question on the Chevy side of the board (with no results) I was wondering if anyone has information installing 3/4 ton Chevy front rotors/calipers to a Ford 9" rearend.
Thanks Dan
wyldstallyn73 09-05-2007, 05:54 PM That makes no sense- an 8 lug rotor on a 5 lug axle flange?? What are you trying to accomplish here?? If you just want to put disk brakes on a 9 inch, then you can use the GM calipers with some weld on brackets and use a Ford 4x4 5 lug front rotor- the axle flange will have to be turned down a bit to fit inside the rotor.
sn0border88 09-05-2007, 06:00 PM custom shafts and a weld on bracket and it shouldnt be a problem.
But apperantly, there are 8 lug 9"'s floating around, under 3/4 ton vans and such.

Not to get into a pissing match or anything, but there is no such axle

toobad4u 09-06-2007, 06:44 PM We used front hat style rotors off a 94-01 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4. I didn't have to turn the axle flanges down on the truck 9" under my jeep, but we had to on another 9" out of a van for them to fit. Wasn't much grinding, though. We also used the GM calipers mentioned earlier with weld on brackets that we picked up at the local race shop for $15.00.
I too would like to see a 8 lug ford 9". :D

svt150j49 09-06-2007, 07:20 PM i found a couple sites that list it in a "3/4 ton ford van"... but who knows if that wasnt a 5 lug. i still want to see it...
Bronco II 09-06-2007, 10:46 PM You could do a set up like this guy here did. http://www.bc4x4.com/tech/2002/ff9/ Just use 8 lug Chevy Dana 44 parts instead of the 6 lug parts. The guy lists his buddies contact info if you want to get some flanges made to use Dana 44 front spinles.
mdapperdan 09-09-2007, 01:00 PM I would like to thank the folks that found the time to share there thoughts. Because I have a Blazer with a 9" rear I though a Chevy rotor/caliper would be the way to go? If anyone can advise me on the correct aproch to this rear Disk brake install.
Thanks

No one is making 8 lug semi floating axle shafts for the Ford 9". I can't even find a company that said they did... one said it's possiable in thier past, but they don't make them today.
I've never seen any Ford books with a 3/4 ton 9". And trust me when I say I know how to look up axle info.
This 9" running 8 lug semi floating axle shafts is something I've been after, never seen ANY one run one. Please post up if you did...
However, around next year (or 2) I'll have one built.
just4cuz 09-19-2007, 05:08 PM I've seen 5 lug Dana 60's, but not 8 lug 9" with floaters. The floater setup with the 44 spindles and hubs seems like it would make a strong lighter weight axle. However the axles are custom and it is a lot of work. You can make a silk purse out of a sows ear if you want to spend enough money, but break one of those custom axles 300 miles from home in the middle of nowhere and........jeez that ain't fun no more is it?
sn0border88 09-19-2007, 07:59 PM Ive never seen one either, thats why I said apperantly. If you recall Ian from extreme swears there are 3/4 ton 9"ers in vans and such and there was a big debate over it. I didnt say they exist for a fact. Im not sure if they are even supposed to be 8 lug, but then what would make them different from a 1/2 ton 9"?
82F100SWB 09-19-2007, 08:40 PM Thereis such an animal as an 8 Lug 8.8, I have seen a couple, LD E250 issue, as for an 8 lug 9", I have never run across one of those, or seen a parts listing for one of those.
just4cuz 09-20-2007, 08:35 PM Is the 8 lug 8.8 a semi floater? The 3/4 ton 9" is probably one of those upgraded half tons with bigger springs and/or brakes and they called it a 3/4 ton.
Seems like when Ford went to the full frame under the vans they did offer something like that. 3/4 ton rated with 5 lug wheels. Increased load capacity but kept the gvw below a certain weight because of commercial vehicle tax or registration fees.
gfbgreaser289 10-11-2007, 03:19 PM its not a 9inch. its something like 9.75 or some shit. i looks like the 9 and the 9 diff will fit into its housing but the 9.75 wont fit into the 9 housing. ive never seen one but like everyonoe i have read about them.
I wanna see pics of that mythical beast.
X2! I think if it exsisted it would be well known and highly saught after! Not just something "I have heard about but never seen"
