Wondering if anyone has pics of 1/4 spring set-up under a full size vehicle? If so were the spring packs mounted under the frame rails or outside or inside of the frame on the side of the frame rail? What if any problems or disadvantages would there be with mounting spring pack on outside of frame(to gain clearence)? Thanx.:D
saw a ford bronco about 79ish on 1/4 in here.
I have 3 pics on my HDD of it

Not sure I would run 1/4 on a fullsize.I see endos happening. If you do this run a limmiting strap in the middle.Blazin:rasta:
explain that please?
why would it be different on a fullsize vs a lil toy?
they are just springs.

Thanx for the tip blazin..Actually, I am not conisdering running it.I am interested though in seeing it on a full size and how well it works on a full size in comparsion to standard leaf spring set-up an dcolis on full sizes..I have a friend that is an antique car builder and he has some old trucks that are from the 30's and 40's and later/earlier that have factory 1/4 eliptic set-ups(Guess that 1/4 eliptic thing isn't very new at all). The springs are all mounted to the outside of the frame rail. As i was looking at this trucks with the 1/4 eliptic set-up it got me thinking and I noticed the following: 1) that I haven't seen a full size in person or pictures of one that ran the 1/4 eliptic set-up that was used as a trail vehicle. 2) In the pictures that I have looked at the spring packs have been mounted under the frame rail and or tube of a tube frame vehicle...This made me also wonder that if the spring packs were on the outside of the frame (like factory chevy springs on a chevy truck) if it would affect/help with body roll since the vehicle would then have a wider base of support to suspend the vehicle as well as a lower center of gravity...or if it wouldn't matter at all..So once again thanx for the words of wisdom.just asking questions out loud.:D
was commonly seen on desert racing full size trucks

Wasn't that flexyvan thingy running 1/4 elip a couple top truck challenges ago? Should be lots of pics of that thing running around somewhere. Think he used a full sized frame.
Just a thought.

I mounted my spring outside the frame when I first did my 1/4 ellip setup. It worked fine, and seemed more stable than other 1/4 ellip setups I had ridden in. But then my front coils were pretty stiff. I drove it 100+ miles to the trails for over a year like that and never had any problems haulin ass up windy roads.
I've now moved then under the frame...or at least where the frame woulda been if I didn't hack it off. Still haven't driven it since the rest of the build up isn't done, so I don't know how it's gonna compare.
Here's the only pic of it I can dig up right now...I'll look for more in a bit
so I have more pics of your truck then you do now?:)

And to think I was going to make a buggy spring setup in back. After seeing that picture, I better not. I'm definitely intersted in seeing some better shots of your setup for the 1/4, if you have them
