getting ready to make the big purchase (especialy for us canadians ouch there goes the kids college tuition)there for my 4runner locked sas 3 link coils ect going on 8" rims what do you gus think of th 38.5 11s?

I was thinking about the 37's for my truck. I think the 38's are a bit on the thin side.

I was thinking the 11 would be easier in the mud for my truck to cut through the mud ruts cuz the toy just doesn't have the power to turn big wide tires

I have them on my CJ-7. They sure look cool.

I couldn't tell you how they perform because my heep is in pieces.

I highly doubt that they would not perform well on the trail <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I would rather have the 38 and not as wide it would cut better through the mud and give some extra clearance you can never have enough. <IMG SRC="smilies/smokin.gif" border="0">

the wider the better.. if it's between the two get the 37's no doubt

I believe that my 11.5" bobbers actually measure 12.5"S

<font color="yellow">I would go with the 37x13 in your situation for 2 reasons...

the tread depth on the 37's is shallower (less resistence), which means your smaller engine can turn them easier and faster in mud, probably keeping the tires spinning and on top

and the foot print is wider, letting you stay on top easier in mud and sand

FWIW, I have the 37x13s and noticed a considerable increase in drag from my old 35x12.50s... glad I have the power to keep um spinning</font c>

The 37's are bad ass! Havn't found a thing I dont like about them yet. The 37's would hold a great bead aired down on the 8's you are talking about. A little less height would help w/ your gearing too...

I friend of mine has had 35x16, 38.5x11, and currently 37x13 boggers - and he swears that the 38.5x11 boggers simple had the best "bite" of any of them.

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either one, but I would judge it on looks. If you have stock width axles, I think the 38.5's woudl look goofy. If you have wider axles - the tall skinny's look a whole lot better...

If you're looking for the best bite, there's no doubt the 38.5X11 Bogger is king. Just about the deepest tread you can get & puts good contact pressure down.

If you're worried about power, you might also look into bias-ply R85 Buckshots. They have 28/32's of tread depth & are listed as a 37X13, but actually come in a bit narrower. You'll be able to spin those easier than Boggers, though they won't provide the same bite on ruts or in shallow mud.

Up here in bc we have mostly dirt trails that get real muddy, marshes,loose gravel, lots of hidden logs in mud holes , roots hidden in mud and the odd boulder climb thrown in for good measure. In the fall and winter we run into a lot of snow.
Do you guys find the 11's a bit more tipsy also I've got 5.29 gears and will be installing dual case in the near future.

i think the 37's are the clear winner in my case. on 10" eaton beadlocks.

My vote would be for the 38.5. Extra tread depth, and I dig tall skinny tires.

I just got a set of 38.5 boggers I like the way they look and wont be near as hard on axles as the 39.5x18's

Can anyone comment on the Bogger vs. SX in a strictly rockcrawling environment (Phoenix, no mud)?

Everyone here runs the SX (as do I). I'm sure there's a reason, but I love the way the Boggers look. I've heard lateral traction is an issue. Anyone?

I have the 38.5s on my jeep and love them. We have a lot of muddy rock trails around and they are hard to beat, especially after i grooved them. They really surprised me in the rocks, i guess they are narrow enough to have good contact pressure. Even at 8psi, they flex well.
