: 32 spline input on a Dana 20.... Jeff427 06-14-2002, 04:55 PM I picked up a Dana 20 out of a Jeep pick up (full size), that was bolted to the back of a TH 400 that was on the back of a 350 Buick motor (all stock to the Jeep truck). The transfercase is 32 spline input, and will bolt to any 2wd TH 400 with a short tailshaft (I have tried, it is on the back of a TH 400 out of a Cadillac right now). People will tell you the 20 sucks due to the lousey ratio (sustained, not as good as the 300 or of course... the "A" word) and that the weak link is the output shaft.... yeah sure. :rolleyes: Most of the guys that tell you this are EB guys. The ones with the course spline outputs.... In that instance... yes, the coarse splines are junk. My 20 came out of a 77 J 20 and gots the 30 spline output variety. I've tried... and carry a spare to this day and have yet to kill it. What is the rest of your set up? Jesse, at High Angle Driveline sells 32 spline outputs for the Dana 20. http://highangledriveline.com I'm just trying to figure out if this thing will hold up as a gear reduction box inbetween a motor making 428 ft-lbs @ 2000 rpm and a 2 1/2 ton t-case, pushing an 8000 lb truck with 48" tall tires. The reason why I got rid of my 20 was only cause of lower gearing, not due to strength...
