i was wondering if anyone had built such a thing. i am thinking of building a small enclosed trailer that will house a small 2-tank 150 psi air compressor, a 110 lincoln wire-feed welder, a couple 10-15" tool bags, lug X, some fluids, maybe spare shafts, trail spare and trailER spare, extension cord, maybe a little camping gear, maybe a medium-sized cooler, etc.

i'm thinking 4x4 should be larger enough. i want to leave the welder and compressor inside the trailer, have a work-top that flips open to get at them, have a bench vise mounted somewhere, basically, a mobile shop plus small utility trailer. and then on top of all that, i want to be able to pitch a small tent on top of it (so maybe the top will have to fold-out or something to accomodate the tent). i want it to only be as tall as absolutely necessary, so, the box, the enclosed part, will probably be only about 2 feet tall, at the most, and that will probably be about a foot or maybe 16" off the ground.

i'm going to put the neck up high, so i don't have to build a drop hitch. prolly run a power strip inside to plug everything in to, including one or two 500watt work lights.

prolly also gonna use my left over Kia axle housing, kia springs, old, skinny procomp es 1000's and a couple bronco radius arms for the suspension.

anyone ever built anything like this? pics? suggestions? something i haven't thought of? thanks.

had a dumb idea on my lunch break of running a small alternator off the pinion flange of the axle to a couple car batteries, but not sure if that would work or is even a good idea. just a thought.

the main idea was to have everything in one place, lockable, protected, etc. back at camp, not necessarily on the trail. also something that didn't require running the engine while working, like onboard air and welders. i would love to run it all from a generator, but i don't have the cash, at least for now, to add that to the line-up.
