I can hear em testing the drag strip from my house - just thought it would be kinda funny/interesting to see some locals get it on the 1/4 mile track in a grudge match - every wednesday is grudge match days.

Anyone interested? ;)

Lets see what the Ford mill can do.

We run tracks with the "low boyz" every month up here. Going fast is the easy part, it's keeping the out-of-round 38 inch Swampers together at 90mph that's hard! Used to run a Scout II with a nasty 440 Chrysler that could fawkin' hang! But now I'm in a new rig with a 4.3. Even with the NO2 I think it will suck.:(

Rules (http://www.sacramentoraceway.com/sacwednite.htm)

I gotta get some new mufflers and my NP435 sucks for quick shifting but that would be a blast to see wheelers on the pavement he he

I don't get it, on the rules page there isn't a 4x4 night?

90! Damn, didn't think a 4x4 would get that fast in the quarter mile but I got no clue!

We were actually thinking about tossing it onto a set of 33" MT slicks, but the thing was just too big and wobbly! That, and no top speed with the 4.88's. I was even weighing in at just under 5,500 pounds! I just sold that motor for $1300.:( I phuct up.

I would run the 500 caddy commando! I would pull the boggers off and run my 315/75/16 pro comp at's from my tow rig. The thing
would scare me past the 1/8 mile cause I know I can hit 85 or so.
Naw, I will leave the mando and bring my alloy headed 355 chevy
240z for some real fun! I am just finishing the car and cant wait to
crush the dreams of the local ricers!

When I was a punk kid, I used to drag mine at the 1/4 mile strip, back then my 302 would pull low to mid 16's!

I don't have to go to the dragstrip to figure out my quarter-mile time... I'm so slow it's legal for me to do it on the street! :)

0-60 in... umm... well... if there's a downhill involved, I can *make* 60... if there's no downhill, it'll top out around 55-58.

I'm guessing it'll pull the 1/4 in the high 20's. Never actually tried.

It occurs to me that I think I can *tow* it through the quarter faster than I can drive it. How's that for slow? :jester:

I'll bracket race in 223:1 low, he, he ,he............:D

That would honk off the super comp guys.

do you remember how fast you got up to? Just curious - I think 90 would be nuts in my truck and I can't picture your too tall cruiser doin 90 at the drag strip either ;)

16's would probably be high 70's or low 80's mph

with 5.86 gears i'd get it for the first 1/8, but then it'd be all over from there.:D

...used to drag the CJ-5 last year with the tweaked 401. 5800' altitude ET was 14.0, which'd be around 12.4 density corrected for sea level. You should have seen the Z-06 Vette, the 3000GTVR4, etc etc.. it was a hoot. Of course after all the 4x4 enhancing work those days are but a distant memory. At least I have pics and timeslips to show my grandkids. :)

I think coby hughey's early bronco with a 427/429 stroker (forget which number it is :flipoff2: ) ran 14's (mids i think) with a c4 auto and drag slicks not too shabby considering a bronco weighs what 4000 lbs? and he probably has rather low gearing for a 1/4 mile.

I couple of months ago I saw a 2500 cummings go 13.98 at 99!
This thing had 33" mud t/a's and a 5" skyjacker lift to boot! He also was pulling 1.8 60 foots ! I talked to him for a while and told
me it dynoed 400 hp to the WHEELS. The torque figure was somthing like 900 fpt!

It would have to be heads up racing. We all know our beloved fourby's will never do the same thing right twice in a row!

I tried to link a cool video of a guy up heres cummins doing loops and dragging pretty wild. They updated the web site and removed the video. He has 1000ft lbs at the rear wheels and wasted his boss' 2000 vette in a drag. All this in a 2500 extra cab long box 4x4.I checked out the result from this years dyno days and the top HP was 564 at the rear wheels. That is some serious power for yanking a trailer.

Back in '86 I had an '84 Z28 with the H.O motor. I'd bury the 85 mph speedo at El Centro Rd. Roughly clocking 15's or so. The car was fast............I'd waste normal Z's, convertible mustangs, vettes and pretty much anything else on the steet that was stock. Car probably topped out at 150mph or so in 5th gear.

I also had a 66 VW bug with dual carbs that I raced on the freeway doing about 115mph. Talk about scary. My jeep probably wouldn't barely turn 20's with the 258. I'd probably have to run my 300zx just to save face. :flipoff2:

My 3/4 ton 4x4 tow rig would run 15.4 at 94???MPH at the old Fremont drag strip. As far as doing a crawl--I used to race my modified Yamaha Yamahopper QT-50 and it would go 24.0 at 50MPH. I actually raced a full on drag bike and he blew up at the line (bracket race) as he must have overreved or something waiting for his green light some 15 seconds after I had already taken off! It'd amaze me everytime I looked back and I was already 3/4 of the way down the track before the faster bikes had even taken off! I would always have to fight the urge to back off at the top of the track and sure enough they would come within a few feet of passing me at the line! My QT was super consistant as it has an automatic clutch and no shifting. I was always the crowd favorite--funny as I was the slowest rig there including stock trucks and VW bugs etc. They crowd would go wild when I did my burnouts in the waterbox! I miss the motocross races they held there too!

There was a guy, here in Phoenix, with an early 80's Toy 4x4. It had 33-35's up front, slicks in back, V8 with the squeeze, and it ran high 13's. Too fawking funny. I don't know how well it wheeled though.:D

I've done plenty of drag racing in mine, but never more than 180' at a time - and no pavement (usually ~3 feet of mud, sometimes much shallower though) :D Shoot, I don't even have the shift lever anymore to take it out of low range. Not that my rear diffy would ever survive a launch on pavement (warmed over 408 + 7.8" ring gear = not a good drag car combo LOL).

If my toyota ever gets done I plan to take it to the import drags. :D Hey it's a toyota!! 6:17's and 44's with about 400 hp. I'm only running the 1/8 mile though. 1/4 would be way too scary. Let me win or I run over your honda in the pits.

The dragstrip around here (Firebird) won't allow a "Convertible" to run unless you've got a full-face helmet and a wrist strap designed to keep your wrist tethered to your steering wheel in case you roll so your hand won't fly out the window and get crushed.

I haven't figured out where to get one of these wrist straps so I've never taken the Jeep down there.

My stock Neon R/T turns in low 16's though. :D

Are you talking about the Pearl White 84-85? In the winter of '00 when I was still heavily into drag racing, I personally saw that guy run an 11.9x @ 112-113mph... Talked to him while we were in staging at Firebird... He was running a 383, with some worked Brodixes, and "squeezing" it to the tune of a 150+ shot... Things I specifically remember about the truck... The WIDE 35 inch M/T Bajas in front, Pro-Stock sized slicks in the back, a single 4 inch exhaust, Ford 9 inch, A FREAKIN' 60 FOOT TIME IN THE MID 1 SECOND RANGE, and a it had a feature done on it by the "Trucks" show on TNN or SpeedVision... Oh yeah... And him emptying the entire contents of the oil pan on the line, leaving me to sit two cars back in staging for the next hour, while the "Three Stooges like" staff at Firebird cleaned it up...

Fun truck to watch!!! Haven't seen it lately though...
