I have leaf springs right now, and they sit about 46.5 inches across if I measure from the outsides of the leafs. am I going to have problems with clearance for the knuckles or will the leafs be far enough in to mount them?

5xfab
09-30-2007, 08:47 AM
Yes, that is just a little to wide. Here is a rough measurement and pic

Just 4 link it then you will have no problems. HAHA

im going to eventually, I just didn't want to have to do it all at once. I would need a new fuel tank too to have clearance for links. so, new fuel tank, links, coils or coilovers, hydraulics and hoses, rockwell axle, 8 lug stuff.... ouch. someday though.

or maybe I can move my springs inward......hmm...

whats the deepest off set rim ( 16'' ) i could fit without hitting the brakes. how far out does the custom drive flanges stick out past your rim's and how much back spacing do you run. another question the do it your self kit, it includes one stock short side shaft and do you supply a way to self center the tubes ( rockwell to 14 bolt ). thanks jason.

5xfab
11-12-2007, 04:28 PM
I have a 4" back spacing on my wheels. I have 2.5" from the drive flange to the outside bead. Yes it comes with a tube that helps with the self centering. On the 16" rims I think 4.5" back spacing is the most you could have, but I not 100% sure because I have 16.5.

what about a front?

what about a front?

Yeah, Like what about a front? What do you all think. Possible or advisable for a street legal One ton? I probably dont need one but like the idea of having a bad ass front axle under the truck.
With the size of the rockwell knuckles can the pinion be offset correctly on something like this to run it with a pass side drop 205 transfer case or is that impossible? Will a normal front leaf spring mount width for a 92 K3500 solid axle swap work or only coils and links. Thanks
