I would like to know if the tf 727 is a direct replacement for the ax15 in my 87 wangler and what will it be in,what numbers it might have on it and so on, when I tour the local junk yards.
what other parts,adaptors or other options I might have...


87 Wangler D44 front w/tracloc pos,9in rear w/detriot ,258 ax15 and np231, with 33in swampers and soa.

There's almost no such thing as "direct" bolt up. You will most likely have to get new driveshafts and make some skidplate mods to mount it. It's as close to a bolt up as you'll find though. You'll need the tranny, a 258 flexplate, and be sure to get the throttle linkage. If you don't hook up that linkage correctly the tranny won't live long.
