: update on women's rcc (PICS)
Lance 09-22-2001, 05:29 PM while it was not quite as hard core as an ARCA smash fest, it was pretty tough. 4x4Grrl and mrs. camo were FULLY GETTING it (as expected) and had 3 rollovers a piece today. Both still managed to do really well, and we are awaiting scores to be posted. Tomorrow we run the other course, and then I will announce who the queen of the rocks will be.
** Prediction ** The winner will be Drew Barber's girlfriend who is driving the Avalanche Assasin. They got a perfect score today.
Sorry there aren't a lot of pics, but I was too busy spotting, and camo had to keep an eye on two kids.

On the other hand isn't it kinda silly seems to me the women should drive thier OWN rigs not husband boyfriend etc...
"I hope some of those are thier own rigs that they trail, fix and modify"
I know it still takes skill and all but hell put anyone in a sniper or whatever and they have a huge advantage over the competion.
My wife has her own TJ drives everywhere the "MEN" go and drives it to work on monday covered in goo, hell she's a CPA that goes over well with the partners ;-)
I suppose it's a big dog thing, what did that dude say in Petersons last month
Rock Racing......
well today is over and the assisian had another perfect day, making here the winner.
kelly did awesome and should place in the top 10.
lisa was doing great until stage 6 and she had a huge over backwards and complete 360 roll. it was BAD ASS. i have pics on film and will post them mid week. should also be in the mags and on the skyjacker video. probally the most awesome roll i have ever seen. fully getting it.

From the tone of this post I take it Lisa
is okay. I sure hope so.
RockRanger 09-23-2001, 05:28 PM Arca is for the Big Dawgs put up or shut up. My view is it should be just about anything goes. Only rules are safety ones. The way I see it by allowing people to build vecicles like assasins sniper scopion etc. only expands the sport and also helps to develope better products for the weekend wheeler like me. I know there is no way I can compete both equipment wise and financially but I like to see what is being done because i could maybe apply some of it to my truck.

Roxywheels 09-23-2001, 06:21 PM Why does this have to turn into a who belongs/who doesn't belong debate?? Thats not what the post is about...its about two women from this BB that competed and kicked some a$$ doing it...doesn't matter if they won or lost...doesn't matter who's rig they drove!! They just went and did something that at least half the guys on this BB can only dream of doing and what the majority of the other women on this BB wouldn't even dream of attempting. So...with all that said...why not give them a hearty congrats and let it go at that??? My 4 Runner and my Zuk are just as much my wifes as mine. Our money bought the parts. Plus, if she was in the garage wrenching, then I'd be in the house babysitting (10 month old - to young to help). So for now I will build our trucks. When we go wheeling she probably drives more than I do, although when we get to a more technical spot I usually drive.

in other words you are just a whinning pussy cause you have a rig on 31 tires.
get a clue moron, this is big time compitition and just singing a 45k check is not gonna get you squat. i saw girls in fairly stock rigs spank the high dollar rides. but before you can even begin to start whinning you need to enter a event.
btw the winning driver in the assian got a standing ovation at the awards ceremony by every one there, and i don't recall anybody who entered whinning cause she had a better rig.

yes she is fine, just a little bummed she wadded up the all-pro truck. she was in the top ten with only 3 stages to go and it dropped her to 18 over all. still a pretty good showing. all told she had 4 flops and once on the roof on day one and did a one and half gainner on day two.
windows98 09-23-2001, 07:29 PM lol hey roxy u mean us guys competing in the womans rockcrawling? lol anyways ur right there competing is what counts i think . like those dudes that enter the baja 500 in a old bronco theres no way they could beat most but its the competing that is fun. and it takes skill even to drivre the assasin or the scorpion sorry bout the typing

H8monday 09-23-2001, 09:45 PM Hey Camo tell Lisa, how proud Kathy and I are of her overall effort. It takes a lot of determination, to get on the starting line of a national event. Anyone who wheels with her knows she should be able to hang with the top 10, but hey you gotta roll(literaly) with the punches.
She and Kelly both kick ass, and they both have my complete admiration, and respect as the awsome drivers they are.
I heard Kelly took 9th.

Any word on how Pat Gremillion's daughter did (sorry I forgot her name)? she was driving Pat's orange Bronco
Chris Geiger 09-24-2001, 01:14 PM Yep, wadded up.
Jon just pulled in. Looks like it needs a new front clip and rear axle shaft. It sounded a lot worse. It's mostly easy to fix body damage. The cage and frame look good. We should have it back to normal in a couple of weeks.

willymutt 09-24-2001, 03:49 PM Hey Lance,
How did Tracy Jordan's FJ look? I heard it worked realy good on the rocks. It look awesome when it left Twisted Customs up here. You should see Jason's new buggy perform. I saw it do things that noone has ever thought of doing. It drove up and down a waterfall, and then backed up the same thing. Pretty sick. He should be fully Gettin It. Check out the floorpan and side body work. Products of my friends and my handywork. Hope he wins it all this weekend.

Just to inform you. I own stock in Lance's Cruzah. I bought the 44, gave him my engine, air compressor, winch. Helped him build it and I work on it with him or for him. So, therefore, yes "I" do have the right to drive it. If we did not spend so much of my money on his rig "I" would have a bad ass rig to wheel in comps.

4x4Grrl 09-24-2001, 05:02 PM I am still very stoked about coming in 9th Place. I don't know if any of you remember but my goal was to get into the top 10 and I DID I DID IT. Lisa and I were FULLY getting it too.
I have to say I don't think there would have been as many roll overs if the spotters could touch the vehicles or use a strap. It was definitely a challenge. I have to say that all those women did great and had great attitudes. We were rooting each other on. I don't think I heard ANY type of cat fight talk or anything. This comp consisted of good spotters that were limited to only pointing the way and very technically talented drivers.
I congratulate all the women that entered.
BTW...they said that they might be holding 2 Womens Comps a year. The next one may be at the Hammers in February I believe. You better believe that I am going to be there.
4x4Grrl 09-24-2001, 05:19 PM I would like to Thank all that helped me make it out here so I could compete. The money sent to me was so wonderful. As hard as it was to accept it it did help me get out here. Sorry that I left my list at home or else I would have thanked you all individually.
Also I would like to thank Camo and Lisa for letting us stay in their room so we could save money.

Thats what I was talking bout your all over it you build it drive etc... I got's no problem with that. How many there you figure are like you? I would hope all entries are more like yourself. I guess I came off a bit harsh I just hate to see those with the most $$$ have the best chance at winning letting a wife drive a rg that basically the hubby or team or whatever usally drives to compete in these kinds of things. I suppose it's the whole sport turned serious competion thing kind of rubs me the wrong way. Glad you had fun and did't get hurt. I think if there is one next year me and my wife will be there.
Put up or shut up right ;-)
I'll shut up bout that till next year.
Jaffer 09-24-2001, 06:20 PM Kelly, Lisa, and ALL the women competitors at your first National Championship Event ... you gals are AWESOME!
Many times this weekend I shook my head and mumbled my respect for the way all the competing ladies handled themselves.
It was clear to see the impression made on the crowds here by the pure determination, driving skills, and their display of pure guts and nerve on these local hard core coarses.
Anyone who witnessed this ground breaking event is going home with a whole new perspective on championship rock crawling.
Gals can "Get It" and with a lot more class ... we want MORE!

4x4Grrl 09-25-2001, 01:07 PM You know what was funny? One of the guys that worked on the Toys in the Rough/Skyjacker crew was shocked when he saw me at the banquet on Sunday night. He looked at me and said "Kel-ly?" He said, "wow you look good." I thanked him and said I do actually like to dress like a girl too laughingly. He said he was shocked and it was just that he had only seen me in things like shorts, tank tops, tshirts, etc. and sometimes with grease up to my elbows. I have seen Mark at several events before and that is why he said that. He said I clean up well.
