so im considering buying a bender. i borrowed one a while back to attempt an exo, after that experience i vowed to never build a cage again. however im considering it and if i do, i will be going air/hydro because rowing sucks and its hard to get the angle you want sometimes because its inbetween notches and generally frustrating.
my question - are all the ram operated benders able to bend atleast 90* without respositioning? if not what brands do? thanks

Tube Shark. Let me know when you get it and I'll be over to build my cage also.

Most factory offerd JD2/Pro 105 hydro conversions use as short 10" enerpac/porta power style ram, so it's takes a few times to get 90*. A lot of guys use long ram engine hoist rams that have about 19" stroke and most can get 90* (or very close) with one shot. Jay Kopycinski's, Cebby's (and others) use a larger 24" stroke ram.
I modified my JD2 with a cylinder that has like 22(?) inches of stroke, I can do a 90* without resetting the pin(s)
mounted it on a metal sawhorse looking stand, just push it in the corner when not in use.
The old manual way was to bolt it to the floor where the GTO sits, and that sucked.

I did this:

-Under $100.00
-100+ bends and is still going strong
-Can get 90 degrees in one stroke.
Ram I used:

EDIT: Bender is JD2 Model 3.

it appears the angle of bend is based on the ram travel without interfering with the bender its self. a quick look over at jay's site and i think i got it figured out. thanks fellas.

I wonder how large the overall foot print is when using a 24" long ram. Seems like a large unit.
oh yeah, that setup is super pimp! I also plan to copy it. Only maybe with a shorter ram.

using my mental scale ... im going to say say 3'x4' for the base of his. ive got a buddy who runs a crane repair shop, i wonder what hes got layin around. i dont see more than 90* in one shot being useful/needed. figure if your going past 90* is for something closer to the 180* mark.
