: cut 15x8
Rockrat 06-15-2002, 08:52 AM Ok here it is pickin up the rest of the little shit so I can knock out my toy axles the dilema as talked about before by many is now ya bought 15x8 2" for your sami now ya got to find a set of 6 lugs
which generally have the 3-5/8" - 4" B.S.. so after lookin around I have seen lots of 15x8 and 15x10 6 lugs for around $75.00 for all 4 anybody ever thought of grinden the welds out and just makin your own 2" offset. Granted this would be for trail use only cause if your off alittle may get some vibes but I think it could be done
with a little time and patience what are the thought s out there :D
lojones 06-15-2002, 10:31 AM What is the width on yota axles? I saw nuttzack's rig and they seemed very wide but i dont know his wheel offset. i need the 2" wheels on my sammi axles to get some width but if yota axles are much wider it might not fit on the trailer :)
mudlite 06-15-2002, 04:28 PM I did that on my arena truck. I had the welds turned off though. It wasn't worth the effort to grind them. They seem to work well even on road. I just turned the centers around and rewelded them back in. cheap 2" offset from junk 8x15 rims :D

I have the same prob, but I'm just going to bit the bullet and go Beadlocks anyway. As I have read though all these posts on toy axle swaps, almost any Vendor can get you 2" BS rims (with 6 lug). I bet if you call Gary at Petroworks he could get his rims in a 6 lug, just guessing though.
mud-magnet 06-15-2002, 04:40 PM ok, the toy axles are 1.5" wider on each side right???? so if you use 2" B/S now, then you'll only need 3.5" with toys...... making it the same width as you have now.......... easy......... you don't want it much wider........ but if you still want it to be wider than sami axles with 2" b/s than ditch out the money.....:D

Well heres what I was thinkin 5 15x8 wheels $75.00 I cut and
reweld to a 2 or 2.5" offset then $70.00 for DIY beadlocks
so for $425.00 I get my offset and beadlocks to boot Compared to how much are beadlocks$$$$$$$$$$$ not to mention I still want the offset ? Just a thought thinkin cheap again, been married to long have been brain washed into getting the best price possible
I Lean 06-15-2002, 06:02 PM Keep in mind, the DIY beadlocks add width to the rim. So, your 15x8's might end up more like 15x9's or more, and all that width is on the outside of the rim. So, that'll affect the overall track width.

ok:)
jones 06-17-2002, 12:53 PM I know a guy who had to do this to his rims for a Dodge M-37. He runs 38 inch Swampers on the street with no problems. I guess you just have to be very carefull.

Maybe I'm missing something here ....
You have Samurai axles now and wheels with ~2" backspacing.
You got's you some Toyota axles and figure you can score some stock-backspaced wheels.
SO far so good?
So the Toy axles are a good bit wider than the Sammi axles - you would not need the 2" b.s. to achieve the same stance with standard b.s. wheels. S
So why are you wanting the backspacking?
Rockrat 06-17-2002, 03:01 PM Now that i have the S/R My springs are gettin slapped by the side lugs on the tires so putting the toy axle under at 3/4" per side and a 4" B.S wheel on it is not going to fix the problem so if I have to a custom wheel I might as well stay with the 2 or 2-1/2"
B.S they never hit until I S/R it and put the YJ's on it dont no what happend
ROCKILLER 06-17-2002, 11:20 PM did you turn up the pinion. that can change the plane that the tire turns on and make it go sharper when you reduce the caster. Also. why spend all the effort and 425 when you can spend a little more and get some eaton bead locks for a little bit more. sure they arent champions but mine work great. I actually like the design of the rings on them. I know you want to save the money but if you do screw up you will be way unhappy.
