Anyone have experience with the Miller spool guns and mig welding aluminum? How adjustable are they and whats there effective thickness range on non-preheated stock? I have a Miller 250 that I'd be using for a power supply.

I know it's not a tig but until I can afford a Dynasty it might have to do!

I tried a search with "spool" spelled correctly and found a good bit of info... I'm a dumb-ass..:shaking:

Still looking for any "new" opinions on the topic.

mines not a Miller, but my lincoln spoolgun hooked to my 180c is as adjustable as the regular gun. Speed and heat are set off of the welder just like normal. just remember that when welding aluminium you go a bit faster. And with a little practice it's just like normal welding.

I have a miller 210 and a spool gun with aluminum wire. Just likes stated above, it's as adjustable as the box powering it. I have welded as thin as 1/16inch. The thickest I have welded is 1/4 and it worked fine. haven't tried anything thicker than that. Never preheated the aluminum, still worked fine.

I have the 30-A spoolgun (the 15-A is the same gun with a 15' cord) I have worked with .063" and .25" with excellent results. I was using a XMT-304 as the power source.
