Hiya

I have just about finished building my new front axle. It is a 73 FJ55 axle going into a 74 FJ40. I am expecting it to be a relatively easy swap. I will be using new greasable shackles, new bushes and new U-bolts.


Any hints or tips to make the swap as easy as possible? I was planning to undo the shackle bolts and jack up the chassis rails until I can pull them out. Then undo the U-bolts and roll the old axle out and the new one in (after disconnecting the brake lines and shocks). How does that sound?

which one has the DB knuckles?

I put the disk knuckles on the FJ55 housing.
