I got my atlas installed in m 92 YJ 2 days ago. It mates to a 21 spline (Weak I Know!) adapter that is mated to a th350. I didnt have fluid between the adapter and the old NP 231 when I took it out. Now I have noticed since my atlas is on the adapter there is fluid leaking out of the adapter between the atlas and the adapter.
Is there something wrong with the adapter? (What could be wrong? I didnt do anything to the adapter just let it sit there. It has been sitting for a while. Will it do any harm to my atlas by having this oil in there? Thanks alot.

was there a gasket at the end of the shaft? I don't know enough about that setup but some have spline shaped oring looking things at the end to keep the fluid from running down the splines. As for a smart ass comment- did daddy buy that atlas for you? LOL:p

The back of my stock transmission was open. My new transmission is open, so I think this is normal. It is not going to hurt the input shaft to get the tranny oil on it. THe atlas has a front seal and the tranny oil should not get in there. Mine does not leak, but I made sure the O-ring was on the tranny adapter on the tranny side and I added a thin bead of silicon form-a-gasket. The adapter on the atlas side had a fiber gasket, but I screwed it up because I clocked it wrong the first time. I took the gasket out and applied form-a-gasket and haven't had a leak.

Was that you I saw with the :bender: LOL ! :p

Hmmm....you mean its leaking at the Gasket between the atlas and the adaptor??.....I'll bet its fluid from the tranny and not the atlas....... I don't think you will have a problem with contamination of either gear boxes but that gasket shouldn't be leaking...are the bolts tight?...When you clocked it could you have tore the gasket? Is your atlas over fluid level magicaly rising?

I have the same trans. I just finished my Atlas install this weekend. There is no gasket between the adapter and the Atlas, you have to use permatex. According to AA the Atlas is completely sealed so you don't have to worry about fluid contamination.
