I did the search thing and did not find what I was looking for.
I'm looking to put gears in the wifes truck (88 soft top on 34 9.50 swampers). I would put a t-case in but there is not that much help in 2wd and it is more for the road. So if I get the front and rear 3rds from a sidekick or tracker can i make them work. I know the fronts drop right in but the rear is what i'm not clear on some things I read say you need a housing, some say you can use the gears with a spacer. I don't want to spend a lot of $$ becase I need 5.38's for my dana 44's. I can get the 3rds from a yard for 40 bucks ea. It is new an the guy does not know anything I got a chevy dana 60 for a 100 bucks last week and when I got it home ( in the back of my zuk ) it had 4.56's in it what a deal. Any help would be great.

Thanks One Big Zuk

Yes the sidekick and tracker gears will work, you need 2 front 3rd members from either of the above, rears will not work go here Northcaost offroad (http://www.northcoastoffroad.com/samurai/drivetrain.htm) and by the tube and spacer kit and install them into your housings
the sidekick aluminum housings have poor oiling capacities to the front bearing so its best to use your own housings

i have the same problem.
i could get a front and a rear very cheap. the rear seems to be much stronger. i know that TT sells hybrid axles with sidekick 3rd members. the question is, if it is enough to weld in the housing from the kick axle?
will the sami shafts fit?
or do i need to shorten the kick shafts?
