Is it an optical illusion, or does the negatively arched spring rest against the frame? (2nd pic)

FJ4ZROX 10-24-2001, 06:02 AM Speaking as a Structural Engineer - the lift blocks are adequately braced for buckeling loads.....
Speaking as a 4wheeler - that guy is an idiot!! What a bafoon. Wonder what he was when he got that idea??

BigBadBob 10-24-2001, 12:42 PM Poor trucks, they didn't want to be made into such pieces of shit. Like this poor toyota:

It didn't ask to be made into that ...thing. That whole website is a joke.

They're not even U-bolts, just long studs with flat plates on top and bottom. The question is what did he use? I'm guessiing he got some rod and ran a die over each end. At least he didn't use all thread.
Still, he does appear to have everything braced. I'd feel a lot safer riding in it than that crazy XJ.

wait a min, is that upper sway bar bracket welded to the lift block? like that block does not see enough stree, lets put the sway bar on it as well

I'm not an engineer but it seems to me adequate bracing for buckling loads would require more bracing towards the CENTER of those LIFT TOWERS err...I mean LIFT BLOCKS
Then again with as tall as those are, maybe that IS the center

You think there was anywhere close to 10-15 grand in lift there...NO WAY, $200.00 att the most. Most of that looks like it could have been "EXTRA" steel laying around a scrap yard. There doesn't look like one OUNCE of engineering thought put into that. C'mon they didn't even get longer than stock shocks.
I'm not raggin' on your thought I'm just sayin' NO WAY!
gunracer1 10-24-2001, 05:07 PM i'am pretty sure that the folding chairs are all that is holding that piece up. mike
broncoboy 10-24-2001, 11:01 PM wow wish i could afford the truck before the crack head got to it. also what is funny is that the web page took pictures under it of the custom truck work. some people have no clue. like hoy much doyou think it would cost for inch lift springs. fuck nthat much. probably the same as it costs for the homemade 24 inch lond u-bolts.
pat
Tin Bender 10-25-2001, 07:39 AM You guys don't know a REAL truck if it came up and bit you in the ass... I saw that thing turn a 13sec. Qtr. @ Riverside a couple weekends ago, than I saw it run Wreck'n ball and Sledge. And to top it all off, it was eat'n sand rails @ Comp hill in Glamis (all while towing a 35' 5th wheel)
so I have to ask, CAN YOUR TRUCK DO THAT?..

Oh BULLSHIT man!!! Where the hell did you get that crock of information? You're COMPLETELY misinformed...
It was Oldsmobile Hill...
On a side note... I had NO idea Ray Charles
was building trucks now a days.

yup, in fact going up Comp hill @ pismo i beat him up there, i had a Stock Bronco 2 with a 2.8l carb'd motor, pulling a 4 horse gooseneck (had to chop the top on the bronco) with 4 horse's, and i smoked him!
