Yeah -- the Soup Kitchen rocks.

Especially the part that climbs up the rock face, then claws the hell out of the bush with the right front tire.

Nice way to expand a side trail....

Exactly why some of our trails are getting the attention from the greenies!!! Good call randii. Why is everyone in the pic allowing this to happen. I see this as a mindset that needs to be changed or we will lose trail after trail.

Not jumping anyone's sheee-ite here just making a point! The greenies will download that pic and use it against us.

From the pics, it looks like they avoided the bushes altogether.

dude relax the line doesn't even hit the bush you come to within a foot or so .
but it's hard to go any further right than what's in that pic ...
i did not run any shrubery over and i believe in treading lightly ..
dont blow things out of proportion if you werent there to see ..
i apreciate your concern but it's not cool to rip someone if you weren't there to see a bush getting run over . i always try and leave a trail in better condition when i leave then it was when i showed up . i pick up more trash than i brought .
camera angles can do funny things to pictures and i dont think that it shows me running anything over ...

junk, I suppose they are referring to the dead leaves under your rig. But if someone were to run over the bushes, they would have to truly get it in a big way.

I wasn't there and I still am not quite sure where that line is but if I don't see much room to move over much. I love that spot though, wish I was there to get it awn

As usual, I'm floored by your quiet charm.

That's not on the trail, more like the edge of the trail (if that). Soup Bowl is getting more and more torn up every year... at least we know who's tearing it up...

See that tree under the right front tire? You know, where the bushes and
shrubs used to extend to about where the left tire is?

What it used to look
like: http://www.pirate4x4.com/trailreports/misc_rubicon_pics/brandon2.JPG

If you're gonna run OFF the trail, try to at least do it off the greenery.

it isn't just the bowl it is the entire trail - it is all the traffic and I guess that is just what happens. Kinda sad though - check out the pictures of all that used to be there..

I got a whole picture book at home of pops even earlier than the link above that I will try to scan. I'll try to redo my rubicon info writeup wherever it went with facts of the trail and before and after pics..

I wasn't there, and I can't say for sure, so I'll apologize if it looks like I'm ripping into you.

That said, you can damn sure betcha that I'll say something when I see something that might be wrong, especially on a trail targeted by the anti-access folks. Our whole hobby would be in a helluva lot better shape if folks were brave enough to step up and say, 'Scuze me, it looks like you might be doing something wrong, here. So if I take a few licks for this, fine by me.

It looks like your right front tire is right on a bush.

Don't take it personally, FJ-junkie -- if you weren't on the bush, you weren't on the bush. You're right, cameras can show some funky things. You couldn't have seen what was going on with that tire -- if any of the other guys standing around (spotting?) saw it, well, that's another problem.

Gosh damn I didn't wanna bring this up but...
I was driving in Saturday evening and came up to Soup Bowl where some Jackass had broken a front axle and decided to fix it right in the middle of the trail, he could have put it in 2wd and backed up 10 feet without any problem whatsoever and been completely off the trail where he could have fixed it without issue. There were about 10 rigs stuck behind him and people were a little angry. I loudly commented on what kinda jackass would fix his shit in the middle of the trail when there was plenty of room a couple feet away. It was then I saw a FJ55 that was behind high centered on a log that he tried to drive over. It appeared to me that he was trying to "create" a bypass around the broke bastard. I laffed at his karma and walked up a hill to watch the sun set. A few minutes later I heard loud noises in the woods where the trail isn't so I walked down and sure enough the stupid redneck dipshit in the FJ55 had gotten off the log and proceeded down through a small meadow and was blazin trail through the woods. I got pissed and ran over to him and gave him an earfull about trail closures and reasons for them. All he really had to say to me is, and I quote "If the trail was wet I wouldn't have drove this way cause then they could see my tracks" WTF??? WHAT A MORON! Hopefully next time he will think twice but some men you just can't reach.
Bushes and shrubs get ran over all the time, this is not the problem, the widening of the trail and creation of spur trails/bypasses is the problem. Please when you see people doing this crap at least talk to them and let them know they are loading the guns of the Environmentalists that are aiming to close our trails.

Brandon, thanks for posting those. I for one appreciate seeing the Bix and the Rubicon from days of old. Very cool. And not a 35" tire to be seen anywhere!

All this comotion going on and all I wanna know is what front leafs that thing is running.

I don't see any bushes under that tire but if you look closely is that one of them endangered little redheaded massy beetles hidden in the picture.
