I know I'm gonna get reamed for this, but I need to get a more cost effective vehicle to get back and forth to work. Right now I'm running a lifted YJ on 33" Mudders. I'm thinking with the amount of money I'm putting into this Jeep, I could go out and buy up 4 zukes and have a bunch of spares around to snag parts from.
How do you guys find the zukes for long distance driving? What kind of mileage are you getting from them? Are they ok to drive at highway speeds during the winter?
I'm gonna be wheeling whatever I buy, so reliability is a concern as well.

Why? If can't anwser that then keep the Jeep. Would you rather have one nice daily driver or a bunch of crap around that might or might not deliver.
Stock with a good motor...30 MPG (the best I ever got in mine)
Long distance:question: Are you a wuss? if you are compare it to a :blender: If your tough as nails.....it rides like a caddy:flipoff2:
Highway speed in winter? I did ok in the mid west when I was there.

Highway driving? Winter? I do it in mine but it's not the funnest thing. Especially if lifted. If you're not into heavy wheeling do yourself a favor and get a sidekick. A sam with big tires and gears gets 20 mpg or less. Stock mine got 30 in town, 25 on highway.
PS Correcting skids with no anti sway bar and narrow spring spacing and z-link is almost a waste of time!

carbed sams get horrible gas mileage, and are no treat to drive in the winter, but it can be done. Mine was my DD, and as long as you have a hat and gloves for initial startup, you're all set (I had a softop too  ). They'll go 65-70, but sound like they're gonna explode. They're really noisy too, but its nothing that isn't doable. Hell, it snows like a bastard here, and gets really cold, and I was out in blizzards crashing through snowbanks for fun. :D
