Does anyone use a 2 poster to store a vehicle on for short periods of time?

I'd only do it during forecasts of snow/ice so I can let my wife park her vehicle inside. I'd be storing a very light vehicle less than 3K lbs. there. It doesn't leak, so no problem parking under it.

Friend of mine stores his late model on his lift for weeks on end when he's not racing. Im not sure how the weights compare

Keeping a suspension unloaded won't cause any issues I'd guess?

It wont be a problem. Make sure the lift is resting on the safety locks and make sure they are not bypassed and you will be just fine...

I know my limits, and knowing my limits AND my luck, I would never bypass the safety. :D

there is no type of mechanical lock on it? If so set it on the locks and forget it.

Myself I would put in some back up solid stock just in case under the safety catches, after all whats worth more, coupla bucks for solid stock or your sanity if the wifes car got crushed. On side note, my neighbour has his 69 RS/SS stored on a two post hoist for years. Only comes down when its a perfect day out and hes taking it out for a show or cruise

Screw the wife's 4runner, I'd be more concerned about the 63' vette I'd be storing up there.

The last shop I worked for would leave Rolls Royces, Ferraris and M-Bs on the lifts over the weekend so the cleaning crew could get around. If they did it with high dollar cars (sorry, is your vette worth more than a Roller?), I'd not be worried about your cars.

Personally, I don't like even leaving trucks on the four-poster overnight, but I'm paranoid about such things.

I am a service director of a MB dealership and have been a tech for years and it is common practice to leave vehicles on the lift overnight... When I was at Lexus it was a 60+ technician shop and at night and over the weekends we left cars on the rack sometimes 30 or 40 at a time with no issues...

If it is safe enough to walk under with your life at risk they it is safe enough to do for storage... No worries...

Now when I have a buggy or a rig that has long travel suspension I will put screw jacks under the axles for extra support but if the suspension has proper limit straps and good weld on the tabs then it is safe too...

I have also had rigs on my lift that others have built the suspension and not had any limit straps so I use some chain to limit travel before lifting but being its you vette the suspension is not long travel and is limited by design so you will have no worries...

I have a picture of a 69 camaro on the lift with a 69 GTO Judge under it and a 78 FJ40 on the lift nest ot them with a 87 Buick Grand National under it that I stored while I was on a 10 day vacation about 10 years ago...

if you feel safe waling under it and doing work under it then I would not hesitate to leave one up for storage... If you do worry then I would fix the damn lift before you get under it again...

In the land of 3.5 earthquakes every month or so I never park anything under the lift when there is a car on it, and I try to drop projects down to the bottom saftey catch over night. With that being said I have never had any problems with anything falling but I know if I do it, I will. It is just the way things go for me.

JOSHGreat points, we leave vehicles on the lifts over the weekend where I work as well.

Split window or convertible? I've got a split window, 327ci/340hp stashed right now...
