Hey anyone with boost recomendations for the '87 VG30 ("E" I believe) motors, I'm open. I was thinking about trying to find one off of a 300zx motor that came with the turbo as an upgrade. But I read that it has really bad lag (kicks in at almost 4000rpm apparently). I assumed that since the 300zx and my D21 pickup have the same motors, instalation would be easier, but that may not be true. What are your thoughts/experiences?

you have a vg30i. There really are no bolt on boost options. The Z motors are DOHC, and too wide to fit in our trucks.

well first of all the vg30et's have the turbo mounted in the back. no room foro that on a hb or wd. second, you have tbi, z31's were all mpfi.

If you change over to the multiport EFI, you could drop in a VG33 with the supercharger out of a later model frontier or Xterra.

Yeah honestly I haven't done much research. But it makes sense that the turbo wouldn't fit, otherwise it probably would've been a factory option.
