My son was given a 90 cherokee that was sunk up to the windows. The motor is seized.

Question is.. Will an older 258 motor from a 79 cj7 work with the FI?

The intake and exhaust manifolds are missing from the 258 cj motor. Will the every thing else bolt up?

Reason being is I know of this rebuilt cj motor for $50.

if you swap the head off of the xj 4.0 along with the intake and stuff it will work. so basically you have a 4.2 block, and a 4.0 head and intake. you will probably have to fill in the water jackets with some jb weld on the 4.0 head to match the 4.2 block since the block is narrower than the head. I did this in my xj and it works well, pletty of torque and good power.
