Anyone ever see a Tulsa C-6500 4x4 AWD before? I have one now and am trying to get information on them.

Here is what I know so far

Tulsa Truck Manufacturing built this truck in 1973. It was shipped to the buyer as a "Custom All Wheel Drive Vehicle" Unit 348 6x6. Tulsa equipment built these trucks using the existing C-65 Cab and frame, then modified the truck by removing the two speed rear axle and front 2X4 axle. They installed an F173 transfer-case rated at 2.5 tons, front and rear GMC 2.5 ton axles and ram power assist steer.

Since then it was modified to its current 4x4 state by removing one of the rear axles, shortening the frame and adding the truck bed off an 80's Chevy Dually. All I can say is this truck is absolutely MASSIVE. 8ft tall 8ft wide and 17ft long

Looks like something that gets more horrible gas mileage than my truck and is very expensive to buy parts for.

Don't have any information for you but that is very nice! I like stuff out of the ordinary and that certainly is.

I was just thinking since I have a set of those axles. Is that the t-case that was paired with those axles in the military truck? If not, how did they get around the reverse rotation in the front axle? Did they flip the diff over to a high pinion position? Sorry for the high-jack. But I guess this would classify as some helpful info for your rig:)

Yeah its the m211 case buy if you follow this link you will see instructions to run the axles with a standard case.

They are still in business in Tulsa. Some really cool stuff in that place ,I had a tour about a year ago. They are always backlogged on their conversions, do a lot of different types of vehicles, mostly 4x4 conversions

We work on those quite commonly...Alot of companies tend to favor older 4x4 conversions for line trucks.. Gm and Ford are pretty common around here.

Most are tandem rear, some single. Theres quite a few companys that do conversions like this...Quigley, Monroe, etc. As far as newer medium duty 4x4's in this area we have been seeing alot more freightliners then anything else.

Lets see some pics on the trail ;p

I've had the truck since June. It was a birthday gift of sorts.

The tires are 16R20's Goodyear Military OZ 53in tall.

GVWR is about 13tons. The forestry devision added 1/2in steel plates on either side of the frame and boxed it in pretty nice. It had a crane mounted for picking up downed trees and other heavy debris. Its overkill.

In the picture you can see the extra steel on the outer frame areas.
