im new to the suzuki world here, but i got a question. i have a 88 samari with toyota axels, we have rigged it to steer right now but it is very off ( turns more to one side then the other) this is do to the fact that from the pitman arm to the steering knuckle is shorter then it needs to be. i measured it out and if i had something that was 32 inches from pitman arm to steering knuckle on axle, it would do me just fine for now. QUESTION: Does anybody know of anything to fit this? we have good fab capabilities so making something isnt out of the question, almost perfered
idont have power steering either, is there something i could do all together at one time?
thanks

Go get a tie-rod made and you can adjust it yourself. That's what I did for mine. It will have two rod ends on each side that are threaded, so you can adjust it as needed. ~Steve

You mean drag link. The tierod will only set toe in/out - it can't control how far the knuckles travel... unless you REALLY screw up. You need to build A drag link with Left Hand threads at one end, and the standard R.H. threads at the other. That way you can just loosen the jam nuts and adjust it's length as needed... without taking it off of the axle.

Doh! Yes, I meant drag-link. I had just gotten up so my brain wasn't quite functioning. ~Steve

what do you guys think about 'hiem' joints fabricating a tube long enuogh and putting one at each end?

Just about any fabrication shop should be able to produce a custom drag link for you. I think Petroworks also offers this service, and can supply the ends if needed. (Not heims)
Once I mount up my Saginaw box I'll be getting some custom tierod and drag links made up using some Jeep or GM ends.

Personally I wouldn't use a Hiem Joint on steering ever, unless its an emergency. We have broken 3 Kevlar Impregnated chromoly hiems recently on 2 different vehicles. These hiems are higher quality than what most racers use, and better piece's than Spidertrax and Avalanche are using
Tie rod ends are where its at, they allow more travel, last longer, and have way better shear factor.
We can custom build any piece you need for a Zuk or Toyota steering, or dana axle. We recently built a setup for a list member that allowed our Toyota high steer to adapt to his Sidekick box, pretty simple, just have top have the machine to thread the holes..and the taps....

Actually no, Steve (squirrelman83) said 'rod ends'. Unless you want more problems later use regular tie rod ends. Sky is right on the money here.

Yeah, both my tie rod and drag link use tie rod ends. I believe mine were CJ ends, but they fit just right. I had to have my pitman arm reamed out to a bigger size to except the larger TRE (it is a 'kick arm), but the shop did it for free. The other 3 points fit just right, though. ~Steve
