What I mean is, the hard plastic (pvc?) sleeve that comes with the bushings.
This thing keeps ripping, getting chunked on rocks, and parts of it fall out.
Do you guys just not run this sleeve thing?? If I don't run them, I guess I'll have to stick washers on in front of the coned bushing washer, to push the axle forward; that plastic thing is ~.25-.5" thick.
In this pic, the blurry sleeve in the foreground is still in good shape, the one in the background is toast.

I've never even seen them before. Looks like some sort of dust shield. I'd poop can them.

Me either! Mine doesn't have them. Just remove them next time you replace the bushings.

I had them on my TTB radius arms, but I don't have them on my dana 44. I agree with FearMe, toss em.

Thanks guys.
What do you think of my idea of using washers in front of the cone washer to reposition my axle after I remove those sleeves? I'm already into the rear of the well with my tires at full stuff/turn, so I can't leave it there.

LOL so that's where those things go!!! Man I have always just tossed them. How funny.
Unless your radius arms are exactly level, you will need some sort of spacer like that provided. When you drop your axle, it is pulled back in an arch. The more the angle on the arms, the further back the axle will be located. Most peole can live with out the spacer. Doubt you will even notice that its gone. But, if your picky, get some washers.

Have you tried compairing those bushings to a solid axle radius arm bushing?? I know the F-150/Bronco bushings are diff from an EB bushing, and any bushing with that plastic spacer is for the TTB set-up. My ranger and BII had the plastic, so did a buddies '89 Bronco. My EB and '79 Bronco are different bushings but neither have the plastic.
Maybe you can just swap to a bushing that works (no washers).

On my BII that was used as a heat shield on the passenger side since the exhaust is real close. Just a thought.
