I highly doubt he entered the service like that. I've known quite a few people in the Military that were my size all through thier 20's and ballooned up like Jabba when they got a little older, and a little less disciplined... not that that excuses Gomer. It takes a lot of lack of effort to put on that kind of weight in the service. I will give him a little credit, he is in theater somewhere, although it's probably Kuwait.

We had a guy in my basic training company that was a big ol' farmboy, he was 6'3" or so and weighed 240ish. He ended up getting kicked out because he could never make tape... it didn't matter that he always MAXXED his PT test and ran an 11 minute 2 mile.

Yeah, that's what pissed me off. There were a few guys that made it that couldn't drag a dead cat through the jungle or sand, much less a fellow wounded soldier. That's ok though, thank god their neck was small.

Yeah, I fought that the whole time. I was a 300 PFTer and ran my platoon many miles leading cadence and going back for stragglers. I can still fireman carry a man further than anyone I've met, but I've never been tiny. My fighting weight was 6'0", 235 (now about 270), and many a fat Squid wondered why the hell the command made me run with them, too.
