Well, I'm starting to button up my hydo. I've put the ram behind the axle w/reversed Aval. hy-steer arms (chevy D60) I'm using 5/8ths heims with 3/4" 16 shank on the ends of the ram.

Now the question...

What are you guy's using to couple your tie-rods to the ram/heims? I was thinking of building a clevis out of 3/8ths plate, but that's starting to seem rather hodgie. I've looked at the Granger clevis ends and they have some ends that look close, but I thought I'd ask before I buy this time. Thanks guy's.

Hey Doug, I think I found the place to get the right clevices from. Chris Geiger has some nice looking clevices that fit over his heim joints, and are threaded into his links. He got them from Howe. His setup is just opposite of yours though with the clevices on the ram, and the heims are on the links. Whichever way you wanted to go, you can still switch.

Let me go dig up a pic of his steering.
Here you go.

I am going to see what kind of prices I can get on them when I buy in quantity. Maybe I can get you a deal on them Doug. Or if not at least find out the price on them from Howe.

Thanks Sean! I'd really appreciate that man. Keep me posted.

Camo...I'm thinking of using 1.5" x .25 for the T-rods. Only because I've got extra threaded inserts and tubing...Of course I'm open to ideas.

I got the ram and orbital from Station (Sean).

I'm planning on mounting it off the left (long) tube...This will necessitate having two different length t-rod's, but I can mount the ram much lower on the axle this way...I'll have it so the ram just clears over the pinion/housing, and the heims/t-rods will be mounted on the bottom of the hy-steer arms.

No pics yet, but here's the ram and orbital Sean sent me.

1.5 inch solid steel. The ends are drilled and threaded for one ton spicer tie rod ends. But, I am using a single ended cylinder.:D

1 1/2" Cold Rolled Steel w/ 3/4" Heim Joints.... but my ram is connected to my steering arm... and then the tie rods connected to the steering arm beneath the ram.... because on Rockwells the tie rod is already behind the axle...

I am using 1 1/4" .120 wall 4130 chrom-moly. It has seen quite a bit of abuse and is still straight! :D I made 2 when I made them and have the spare zip-tied to the roll cage! 3/4x3/4 rod ends. The attachment to the tie rod is 2, 3/16" plates spaced about 5/8" apart with a tube/sleeve for the pin to pass through.
The ram is attached to the axle tube in the same fashion but I used 1/4" plate on it.

This is all very cool stuff, but you guy's got clevis ends on your single through rams...I'm trying to get a clevis to heim...(Or some approximation there of).

When Station comes through, I'll post some pics of what I'm trying to describe.
