I have no idea what tranny you have in that poor thing, but why don't you check over at RRORC.com, they have lots of useless BII and Ranger info..:D

Seems like trans takes 90 and transfer case takes trans fluid. Are these things very tough? It belongs to my new girlfriend and want to take it to the mudhole, but do not want to kill the thing.ANYONE? Thanks PTO DAVE.

The rear 7.5" is fairly strong, but the front is a Dana28 that won't take much abuse, particularly with large tires. 6 3/4" ring gear and tiny axle joints.
A Dana35 frontend from an Exploder is quite strong and is a direct bolt-in replacement, except for a bit of driveshaft shortening.
A EB Dana44 (solid) is also an easy swap as the original BII setup also uses coils.
Yes, gear lube for the tranny, Mercon (or DextronIII) ATF for the T-case.

Whoaaa. pause for a moment.
O.K. one 5speed manual did indeed require ATF Mercon/dexron III fluid. The Mazda 5 speeds usually use ATF. You must identify which 5 speed you have first. If it's the Mitsu'bishi then 80w is for you. Now for the T-case it looks like ATF Mercon/dexron III again. Anyone else?

I don't think the Mazda appeared until '88 or somewhere around that year.
