OK, this has been bugging me...Where is the trailhead to the B29 trail? I've heard it mentioned around, and would like to TRY it (in slo-mo of course), but nobody I've talked to knows where the trailhead is...

I would come to the meeting to ask, but I'll be out of town on Thursday...(that, and I don't consider myself 'extreme' :-P)

Don't think I am a ass for doing this but I am not going to put it out over the Net.

This trail is really no secret, but you do have to know where to go since it is not on any maps.

If I give it out over the Net I am afraid that we will have more of what I reported on in that webpage.

We all know that here in AK you can end up dead real fast. More so than anywhere in the lower 48. Not that the trails are harder but that everything is so remote.

If you come to a Meeting to either of the clubs in Anchorage and go on a run with them you will know where it is and your first experience will be with a well prepared group. Luckily the first 1/4 mile of the trail will take out anything with less than a 33 inch tire. That helps keep the local high schoolers out. But I will not put the directions out over the net.

I live on Elmendorf. If you are ever on base and see my ZJ (trust me you will know it, not many Grands running around without fenders) give me a holler. I will gladly talk to you then and give the details for running this trail.

It is not for the weak of heart since the climbs are STEEP and the trail is ROUGH. If you have ever run in the south, it is a lot like Tellico.

Never run in the south. Local college student here. Not the "DUDE! LET'S GO FIFTY UP THAT!" kind, either...I mean, c'mon, I drive an FJ40 with the stock 6 :D

Soinds like an...interesting trail..I've been up there snowmachining, so I know what the area's hills are like:eek:

I don't get on base very often at all, so I doubt I'd bump into ya there. I'll have to come to a meeting, it sounds like :)

(PS, to all those peeking on the thread from the lower 48, as I sit here typing this, they are doing a rescue of sombody off of Flattop Mountain...The mountain is in town and almost every year sombody dies on it from not being rescued in time)

Yep there are stupid people everywhere and Alaska is pretty rough on them. They should all go back to Cali. LOL

Good job man I may sound like a treehugger but I bet the local wildlife didn't like that thing there. People who try to close trails love it though gives them pics and a good arguement when something like that is left for junk. I'd say that did more for the locals then a letter anyday. P.S. Beautiful country up there
