: Building my Junk.

I have been floating on and off this board for several years and never really committed to building my sami. I just hammer the crap out of stock. Well I blew the head gasket the other day, so now I am looking to put in a new motor. I would like to stay suzuki and go with the 1.6 16v, but this is proving to be a very elusive motor in my area. I am now having thoughts of an ecotec motor or a miata motor. I dont even know the first place to start looking for an adapter and I am also weary of the wiring trouble that could be encountered. I am in the newb forum cause I am one essentially and also because the sami guys will get all butt hurt if I start asking about putting a non zuk motor in my sami. So, those of you with experience let me know if its a decent idea? and if so, what do I need from the miata. Motor, harness, possibly whole fuel system? maybe different donor motor all together. Any advice is appreciated.

there are other options as well. the vortec 4.3 mentioned, a ford 2.3 or the turbo 2.3 from turbocoups. ive also read about later chevy 2.6 v6 as well from an s10. you can splice harneses together or you will need the whole deal. expect that your fuel lines and pump will need to come from the vehicle your motor came from.
