We could use some enthusiastic people to be part of the team. It WILL be the experience of your life, I can about guarantee you this much!

We are looking for team members to be part of our chase pit teams. You will need to have a truck and be willing to chase us down the Baja Peninsula. We need approximately 10 chase vehicles total.

Scott Watkins is the Driver of Record (I believe) No he did not drive. He co-drove with Fat City. If fact I believe he was in the car when they came on Tracy after the crash.

Good point, that said when exactly are the dates (yeah you can kick me in the sack for not knowing lol) that would be required for this as i'd be up for it, just a matter of a date (new job hard to get time off work) and if someone has an empty seat :)

KarlKnowlton
09-24-2007, 08:23 PM
The main dates are the 13th thru the 16th, but you would probably want to be in Ensenada around the 10th to have time to meet the people you are chasing for and get a good plan down as to what part of the race is going to be your main priority.

it's more the fact that he just want's the beer tab for winning twice in a row to be HUGE!

Listen to the rookies talk smack. They take their station wagon down a smooth logging dirt road in Georgia somewhere, and they think they're pros. I just hope they aren't stuck in the silt for too long. It would truly be embarassing for them to get spanked by all the class 11, AND have to buy us beer. :(

We aren't really looking for "seat fillers" as much as people who have their own trucks, and are willing to drive them down there.

used my dodge at teh 500 all stock, suprisingly it takes up rollers pretty smoothly at 60-65, till you get that one that's out of rhythm. big air!

I'll be at whichever BFG pit Nelson Racing Services gets assigned.

Once I find out where I'll be, any JS guys need parts staged there, PM me. I take my Dmax down there, have room for a reasonable amount of cargo left over.

Baja is DARK at night, Mexico loves paint, but they're not so much on reflective road paint, chase trucks need good lights!

Lance where are you guys staying when you are down there?

Let us know if we can be any help. We use a large ranch with tons of land so if you guys need to camp out Sunday, and Monday night before the race, leave stuff there etc.. You can.. Let me know. The Ranch is just out side of Ensenada maybe a 15 min drive. Very safe place to leave and park your gear.

Lance,
We are running a Stock Full(#876) Land Cruiser so you have a friendly pit if you need help. We are planning on having pit support(tools, air, water, welder, etc) at each BFG pit, and a few other areas, so if you need help we should have a good crew at each area, and I imagine we will be roughly about the same avg speed so you should see our pits... we are going to have pemex at each stop too... coming from 2 100 gallon bed tanks. dont know exactly where we will be staging in Ensenada are pre-race time wise-might be in rosarito area...

I can't say that I can chase but I might be able to help. I have been down for the 1k twice as well as the SF250. My group goes down to prerun, drink, and to watch to race. We have three bikes this year and one RZR. We will be watching the race from Hwy 3 where the turnoff is to Mike's Sky Rancho (or somewhere thereabouts), we will have the van so we won't be too far from the pavement. If you need us to be a fuel stop for you (or something similar), we might be able to help out. I am driving my 2WD E350 down with the bikes inside and a small trailer for the RZR. If you need a "lite" pit crew to help we might be able to pitch in.

Good luck, either way we hope to see you down there!

JRTOFFROAD and myself would love to participate. Would be coming from Arizona, we have a truck, some tools, and a lot of enthusiasm!

Jordan (JRT) is an avid Jeep wheeler with an engineering degree from ASU and I am currently studying automotive mechanical engineering at ASU. I have a Nissan Frontier 4x4 that we would be using as the chase vehicle. If you look under the Nissan section of this bulletin board in the pictures section you can find my truck towards the end.

Let us know what the details are and we look forward to helping out. (JRTOFFROAD has PM'ed you Lance)

By the way, not sure if anyone else was wondering but you do NOT need a passport to drive to Mexico yet. Only if you fly. The WHTI doesn't take effect until January 1, 2008 so until then you can get by with a birth certificate and ID (Drivers License).

How much do you think my total fuel would cost? I can get 19mpg on the highway.

Also can SOR re-valve 5100 Bilstiens and fox shox for Baja?

Im still out of work and have all the time in the world so I dont mind putting some extra work to get some help on the fuel cost.

figure you'll have 2700 miles in mexico alone, probably a fair ammount of idle time also. and mexico's fuel isn't the greatest stuff on earth...

5100's are not really end user rebuildable, but fox's are. not really sure why you would need a re-valve for the trip since a majority of it is on the highways, well, what mexico concider's highways... my truck still has the stock shocks and everything on it and is going "as is"
