: Carburator bogging

I have an edelbrock carb and when I hit the accelerator hard, it bogs and almost dies, but then goes. If I accelerate gradually, its fine, but sometimes when I need to pass someone, it acts poorly. I was thinking that the cause is the accelerator pump, does that sound reasonable? Also, I've never rebuilt a carb and if it were to be the pump, how difficult would it be to replace? Help!?

Andrei,
The pump is not very hard to replace. If I were you, I would just get rid of the Edelbrock and get the BC broncos rochester. Or better yet, go to a yard and find a rochester off just about anything. Buy yourself a rebuild kit and get to work on it.
