Does anyone have a TJ with a front rock jock? If so what kind of steering track bar setup are you running? (any pictures would be great) Do you have any issues with bump steer or torque steer.

I have some with mine and could use a little help resolving the issue.

Thanks.

post some pics, normally you'll have steering issues when the drag link and the track bar are not "in phase". So when the front axle is in jounce (also called bump) the compression is controlled by the track bar. Then when the drag link is out of phase with the track bar it is forced to move the knuckle and steer the truck. Take a look at a stock jeep, you'll notice that the point where the drag link joins the tie rod is also the same point where the track bar attaches to the front axle. Anyway, post some pics to people here can help you.

I'll take some picture tonight and post them.

All I can say now is that the track bar and drag link are perfectly parallel to each other and run down at the same angle (8-10 deg or so). They both mount in the same plane, horizontally as well as front to back at the fixed end and the both mount on the same plane as well on the other end. The only difference is that the track bar is 2-3 inches shorter than the drag link. If you sit in fron of the jeep you can't even see the track bar because it is perfectly hidden behind the drag link. Everyone says it is the perfect setup yet something is not right.

what issues are you having..

I have the 9" and the currect link set-up and works great with no steering stabilizer.

Jeepjack.

I'm having what I think is torque steer. During acceleration the jeep pulls left and the opposite way when you decelerate. There is nothing stock up front. All the steering and track bar are custom to the rock jock. Do you have any good pictures of your track bar / steering setup?

How is your caster? If your caster is to far forward the weight of the vehicle will be centered over the setup and cause the problems you are describing. This is ussually addresssed by set the caster back(moving the pinion angle down) to recenter the weight over the non steering portion of the axle.

Caster is set to 5.1 give or take.... this should be fine.

I have some pics......we did change some things last night. Removed the drop pitman arm and went to a straight one and put a small bend in it (for clearance). Put a small bend in the track bar. Let me know what you guys think.

HOW DO YOU INSERT IMAGES?????????? never mind....

Looks like your headed in the right direction. But remember the only points that matter in any link setup is the 2 locations of mounting pionts. Meaning even though you bent your track bar it is not the same angle as the tierod.

Hold a string at the frame bolt and the axle bolt this is your true angle of the track bar. Understand?

You either need to raise your frame mount or lower your pitman arm.

Who made your pitman arm?

It's a sam's pitman arm $130.00 bones that we had to cut and bend for clearance. These are the modifications in round 2. In round 1 we used a drop pitman arm. With this both connection points are in the same plane and paralell to the bottom connection points.
