: dodge dakota torsion bars

Hi, I have a 2004 dakota and have purchased a set of new torsion bar keys to crank the front end up a bit more. What is the procedure to swap these out without killing myself?!? Thanks for any info--Indy

Nobody has ever removed the torsion bars before?!? I just need to know how to release the tension on them

They make a tool to do it, but I just put a floor jack under the t-bar near the bolt and then lowered the bar with the jack to release the tension after I took the bolt out.

I think I just backed the bolts out and they were long enough to release all the tension before they ran out of thread.
