i bought a 72 gmc 2wd 3/4 ton for 300.00 about 1 year ago. and now the the frame is shortened and the roof is cut off and short bedsides are being trimmed and welded about 1 inch behind the door to whats left of the cab. a long wheelbase blazer, but the rear is getting bobbed and a 67 front clip is now on. i got a 468 bb freshly built going in with a th400 and a 205 and i just picked up a front gm dana 60 and a dodge rear 60. not really trying to buld a rock crawler more of a well built duner/trail rig. so i need to still buy a tranny and some 5.13 gears, as well as some aftermarket spring hangers with some 56 inch springs. i think i will go with 42 iroks or 47 ltb swampers, the stock fender opening are geting cut out and raised up about 4 inches or so and reworked at the bottom. i just want a low lift. anyway it will take a while, but heres where im at.

Did it come with the 67 front or did you swap it out?

the 72 gmc front clip was so beat i swapped it for the 67 chevy front clip, i like the 67 chevy front better anyway. i also shortend the frame from a long to short bed and found a very nice set of short bed sides. but now there being attached to the back the cab and the door skins are being attached to the cab. and will notch the down into the doors to allow people to get in, since it will no longer have opening doors. im also first cutting off about 1 inch on the front leading edge of the bedside and cutting of the innerwall as well before attching it to the cab. i will cut 1 peice of sheet metal to run from tailgate up to the dash, just to clean up the interior.

heres a ps with the low ride hight and a where i want to cut body, i will round off the corners and finish it off with some thin will round tube welded in.
and the wheelbase sitting about where i want it. and the wheel arches raised up about 4 inches and widened about 5 inches. think i will shoot for 6 inches of total lift and 42 inch tires.

any ideas if 60 can be built up enough to handle 47 ltb tires, its going to be used as a duner and a trail rig. but will be running a 500 h.p. 468 behind a th400

well i got a dana 80, its 86 or 87 wide and has a 4 inch tube that tapers down by the spindle. and it was dark when i picked it up but the shafts are out and they look to be 37 spline, did they really do 37 spline shafts. so with that and mabey beefing the hell out of the 60 or turning the front 60 into a 70 front should i hold up to 47,s.

now i need to decide on suspension, linked or long leafs. think im leaning towards leafs, i want something thats not going to beat the hell out of me when rolling through the dunes. i was thinking +6 56,s on front with b52 hanger and +6 63,s on back with a shackle flip and a 1 inch body. and still cut out my fenders. i will only go this high if i run 47,s. i know it seems a little extreme for somthing to be used as a trail rig or duner, instead of a rock crawler. but it sounds cool, so what the hell.

what is this +6 lift? if so sounds about right 10" of lift and 47's. personaly id run a little less than that somewhere around 6-8" of total lift

i was thinking a total of about 10 inches of lift and fender trimming just to clear the 47,s.

well after looking over the axle, its got dana 70hd on the back of the housing and. and after counting the splines, its got 35 splines that dont taper down.
looks like a dana 60 cover. im think this may be better for me than a 80. i would like to get as low as 5.13-5.88 gears. and think i may just run 44,s.

I like it......:smokin:
If it were mine I think I'd go with the 44's. Keep us posted.
