Driving around town it looks pretty cool. Out on the trail is where it really comes in handy though. Putting the windshield down keeps the glass safer. But if you want to really keep the glass from getting destroyed then just replacethe hinges with the 'quick release' kind and leave the windshield frame where you left the doors (on the trailer, back at camp, etc.)
This is all well and good, but it kind of goes without saying that any windshield movement should only be done if you are running a front cage...

Here in TX, I like to shoot things in the road from the drivers seat. :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :D

If you get into mud it sucks though.

I hope it's not a poser thing.. I fold mine down all the time, and I am 1 state north from CT.. Get plenty hot here often enough, besides people give you the dumbest looks, I even have the quick release hinges and tend to leave my winshield, doors and targa bar home quite a bit.

Hey Mud,

Sorry for not getting back to this one yet, but I actually didn't do the modification myself (this time). I picked up a set from Figmo at Roadless Gear. He takes the stock hinge (well, stock for everyone outside of the US...), taps out the pin, drills the hinge for a quick release pin and Viola! Real slick. I DO like the aluminum version Trail Tough has, but I got these before Brent finished his version.

Here is a shot from Figmo's site, I don't have any good shots of mine yet.

There will be an article at iZook about these in the next issue.

Around here, you'd get a mouth full of leaves as well, but it beats sacrificing your windshield to the tree gods! We all take the windshield completely off if possible around here. The cage hoop will keep most of the branches out of your face. :D

I likey those aluminum QR hinges...:D

Sorry John Work was very busy today. I have a fold down windshield kit, and then I just unscrew the one bolt on the bodyside of the hinge.
