dirt bag warning!

Hey Guys

If James Grein (aka DrtDevl on the OutdoorWire forums)from Newport News, VA. EVER wants to buy any thing,

DON'T DO IT. HE'S A ******* DIRTBAG

He owes me $66.71 for parts shipped to him UPS on Sept 19, and received on Sept 26.

He is a US Army E5, Motor Transport Operator at Fort Eustis, VA.

Does anybody know if I can contact his CO and get any response on something like this?

So what's the story, is he refusing to pay, or you just can't get ahold of him? A lot of military folks are hard to get ahold of right now.

He's currently in VA. He is not deployed. He's not answering E-mail or PM's, and in his last communication had promised payment would be mailed the 12th or 15th of Oct.

Yeah, it would be kind of tough on a guy to pay up if, for example, he was in Afghanistan.

here's the story from one the Toy guys:
________________

from Kajo:

James Grien (DrtDevl) bought a 3rd member from me at about the same time. He drove to my house to pick it up. About a 2 hour Drive. It sucks that he screwed you over. I am in the Army to and if you can find out what unit he is in and have verification that he recieved your stuff, his comander should be able to help you out. at least he should be able to have him ship the parts back to you.

He's a ******* dirtbag!

I am a vet of five years. The military will article 15 your ass over bad checks. The military frowns on this crap and will land on him with both feet. Since you have his assigned unit I would call first and get a hold of the Base Commander who will probably hand you off to the Judge Advocate. Have a civil conversation with these people, get their address and they will get you your money. After you hang up write a letter to the person you just spoke to and outline your problem and what he said he will do about it. This is the secret way to make something happen in the service. It has worked for me in the past. Phone calls are soon forgotten but they pride themselves on proper paperwork. After he gets you your money write another letter to say how much he has helped you. This is known as the "atta boy" letter and is put in his personnel file and helps with promotions, etc. Lots of luck

the fact that he bought a complete third at the same time, instead of using the stock carrier w/ 4.10 r/p i sold him, leads me to believe he does not intend to pay for my stuff- it doesn't take 10 days to get a letter from VA to AZ either!

How do you know for sure he isn't deployed? Its not like they advertise that stuff(well...the media does, but thats another story)..Keep in mind that his status could change at any moment. Not saying that he playing games with you, but the fact thats he's in the military just adds a different twist to it.

He's verified "in country" by a Major in the XO's office at Ft. Eustis, and I'm now contacting the Command Sargeant Major there with his Unit information.

It ain't the money-
All I'm really out is $16.71 for shipping parts I don't need anymore- I make excelent wages as an engineer anyway.

It's about trusting poeple
Maybe I'm a stupid ******* moron for doing so, but the vast majority of poeple on this board and other boards that I have met are really good poeple with a common interest. I've bought and sold other items with no problems. Also, I've done business with poeple on the board via e-mail and phone with excelent results (IE: High Angle, All Pro, Marlin), and while thats not the same as a private transaction, the trust is still there, you expect to get a good, quality product, sight unseen.

Anyway, it will be resolved soon.

-----------

I spoke to his unit Commander today, he'll be calling me tomorrow from the CO's office.

Good luck getting it resolved, but I still think you are OUT OF LINE for the public bashing on every BBS you see

Well I don't know you or the guy but I do know AZ postal service is screwed! They loose mail all the time!
I bought some stuff from Waxer and sent him a check. He and I talk a lot and he know plenty of ways to contact me. So he let me know he never recieved it. We waited 2 weeks. Checked with the bank and It's never been cashed either and a stop payment put on it.
I sent him a second check from ATL to PHX and it took 7 days for him to recieve it. This was 8 months BEFORE all the current crap with anthrax was going on. I'm sure that has not helped anything.
Waxer was telling me he has had all sort of mail disapear including rent checks.
Get in touch with the guy before you go off on him. Have him check with his bank to see if it was cashed and if not to put a stop payment on it and mail a second check.

hey- he's got a month's worth of slack-

cutter- THIS SAYS IT ALL!

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma School officials remove "God Bless America" signs from schools in fear that someone might be offended.

Channel 12 News in Long Island, New York, orders flags removed from the newsroom and red, white, and blue ribbons removed from the lapels of reporters. Why? Management did not want to appear biased and felt that our nations flag might give the appearance that "they lean one way or another".

Berkeley, California bans U.S. Flags from being displayed on city fire trucks because they didn't want to offend anyone in the community.

In an "act of tolerance" the head of the public library at Florida Gulf Coast University ordered all "Proud to be an American" signs removed so as to not offend international students.

I, for one, am quite disturbed by these actions of so-called American citizens; and I am tired of this nation worrying about whether or not we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on September 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled in New York and Washington D.C. when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. In fact, our country's population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants; however, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some native Americans, need to understand.

First of all, it is not our responsibility to continually try not to offend you in any way. This idea of America being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language, and our own lifestyle. This culture, called the "American Way" has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. Our forefathers fought, bled, and died at places such as Bunker Hill, Antietam, San Juan, Iwo Jima, Normandy, Korea, Vietnam,

We speak English, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society - learn our language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some off-the-wall, Christian, Right Wing, political slogan - it is our national motto. It is engraved in stone in the House of Representatives in our Capitol and it is printed on our currency. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation; and this is clearly documented throughout our history. If it is appropriate for our motto to be inscribed in the halls of our highest level of Government, then it is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.

God is in our pledge, our National Anthem, nearly every patriotic song, and in our founding documents. We honor His
birth, death, and resurrection as holidays, and we turn to Him in prayer in times of crisis. If God offends you, then
I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture and we are proud
to have Him.

We are proud of our heritage and those who have so honorably defended our freedoms. We celebrate Independence Day,
Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Flag Day. We have parades, picnics, and barbecues where we proudly wave our flag. As
an American, I have the right to wave my flag, sing my national anthem, quote my national motto, and cite my pledge whenever and wherever I choose. If the Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

The American culture is our way of life, our heritage, and we are proud of it. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. We are Americans, like it or not, this
is our country, our land, and our lifestyle.

Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion about our government, culture, or society, and we
will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our
pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, the right to leave.

If you agree, pass this on to other Americans!
It is time to take a stand!

This is the way to do it. Keep the officer's out of it. Contact his Sargent Major, tell him that you sent his troop some parts and that you haven't received your money yet. Also tell him that you've attempted to contact him, with no success. Give the Sargent Major your contact info and ask him to have the troop call you and to let you know what's going on. This will probably resolve the situation.

FYI, this is for those who complain about lost mail. If your sending a check through the mail to anyone the best thing to do is send it the following ways... certified, signature confirmation, delivery confirmation, registered, return reciept or a combo of all of em, the best is registered as it is handled all the way and physically checked in and out of every location it goes to. If you are expecting a check have the sender send it one of the above ways and you will all be happy, myself Ive never had an issue with lost mail. I always use a combo of what I said.

I have finally had the opportunity to speak w/ James Grein, aka DRTDEVL. He will be returning the carrier and pinion to me, and paying my shipping costs. I believe there was some confusion on his part as to what a carrier actually is, and that was the root of the problem. I did not advertise a complete stock third, only the stock carrier w/ ring gear and matching pinion.

I am very, very dissapointed that I had to resort to calling his CO. It took well over a week before he contacted me, and that his CO verified this afternoon that he has been on post, but am willing to give James the benifit of doubt due to the present situation- I'll chalk it up to his being busy on post. I also understand he had some extenuating personal circumstances, and am going to consider the incident closed as soon as I receive conformation of shipment.

I will not sell anything to anybody now with out using a service like paypal or receiving payment prior to shipment. of the two options, paypal offers both parties some guarrenties.

What a Fawkin cop out. "He's a mil guy like me so we are all brothers and are fighting for your shiiiit to have the money blah blah blah..... " Kiss my A$$. That has nothing to do with the fact that he has been avoiding this.

Nothing against the military here but how Gawd damn long does it take to make a phone call. You telling me he didn't have time (3 min) to make the call. BS! He was avoiding the issue and you know it! Other wise, he would have said "hey this is not what I need what can we do about the shipping thing and you can have your stuff back."

Don't hide behind the flag as an excuse. I applaud the job both you and he are doing but he had time. He could have type an email/PM/post back. Think with your head not your unit(military)!
