I want to get a set of sliders for my 2005 Tacoma and was wondering if anyone has a set of the sliders from Empire Performance and Offroad www.empirepao.com? Theirs are fully welded, made out of CREW, and come with gussets. But they are only 1.5" tubing. I saw some posts over on TTORA about them but nothing real negative.

Avoid Empire and get a set from someone that is proven.

Demello, Bentup, All Pro, Stubbs, etc.

Why avoid Empire? I've done lots of searching and found nothing negative yet about them, and found a few positive things too. They are new to the scene so I do expect them to be a tad unknown, isn't that usually how it is with new companies?

I can help you out with fully welded, ready to bolt on, 05 sliders too. We use a heavier tubing and they are available in DOM too! There's lots of guys running and loving them too!

DOM by itself does not physically weigh more. As for if it is needed, all depends what kind of wheeling you do. If you do much in rocks and don't want dents then go with DOM or a thick wall heavier tubing.

If you are going to use your sliders as sliders, then you want DOM. I have come down on mine with the full weight of the truck and never had a problem. I have DeMello Hybrids. Cheap, they were not, but they have saved me more than a few times.

I have the Trail Gear Sliders on my 4runner that are DOM and you can not destroy those if you tried. I have been on Moonrocks and Fordyce with them and slammed a telephone pole with the side of my truck at about 20mph and didn't do a dam thing to the sliders

I've got 4xinnovations DOM sliders with the kick out on my 2000 Tacoma. I've abused them pretty well so far and they are doing great. I'd buy them again in a heart beat.

ok, its not a apples-to-apples comparison. the 4x sliders are not fully welded, the buyer has to do fitment and finish welding them, and then weld to truck. the Empire sliders come fully welded and all that is needed is to place to frame and weld them in. also, CREW is stronger than HREW and will suffice for many offroad enthusiasts. DOM is the material of choice for hard core rock crawling, but not everyone is a rock crawler. Empire can also build in DOM if requested.
