I blew out my front U joints on the Con this weekend so it's time for CTM's, got them on order with Jack. I would like to go with Warn 4340's but hear I can't get them in custom lengths. What is everyone else doing if they want Warn's? Are you just ordering them long like 36" and 22" and having them splined? Isn't Dutchman down by Warn? I'm figuring maybe they could spline for me. I know axles are like beer  everyone has a brand they like I just blew out Mosers, if I don't go with Warn is there someone better?

Drivetrain Warehouse (aka 4WPW red headed step child) advertises that custom lengths are available.

I believe Jack can cut and spline them for you in house if you send him blanks.

Dutchman & Currie are the 2 places I know of for custom lengths. I orderd them from Currie first. About the time they should have been here, they called & said it would be another 4 weeks till they got the blanks. Dutchman had them in stock, so I got mine from them.
I just called Gary at Dutchman today about the 4340 ChroMoly Warn's, and they're expecting a shipment momentarily. You need some info for them to order D-44 fronts. Mine are 8-3/4" long (center u joint to end of splines), 27 spline outers. The early Waggie outers are 19 spline. I need stock '78 Waggie D-44 axles except the long side inner axle must be exactly 4" shorter than stock. I have a place that will shorten and respline any too-long axle. Jack (CTM) says not to re-heat treat if cold splinning. I have Jack's U-joints on order.
BTW, the new prices are: $215/pr. outers, and $475/pr. for inner axles (30 spline). I was hoping they would include shipping, but no, it's about $35. However, no tax for out of state. Maybe I'll try Tri county Gear. I'd pay tax, but could pick them up and it would be a wash between shipping and tax.
I'm re doing my cut down waggie D-44 front end with Parts Mike flat top knuckles, his steering over arms, Hayes Enterprises' Steering over ChroMoly tie rod and drag link, CTM u-joints, and Warn ChroMoly axles. It's about $1800 just in parts. I guess I should have just gone to a D-60.

I talked to Jack today and he said he should have some ready to ship this week he's just finishing them up. i still have to pull my axles for the measurements. Jack mentioned something that Warn also had some as blanks, no splines. I'm not sure if those would be cheaper since i have to get them splined anyway. Maybe Gary at Dutchman would know. Do you think the Warn 4340's are the best way to go. I noticed Randys is even selling HD 4340 chromemoly alloy axles now. I've got to check with drivetrain warehouse tomorrow, I like the idea of a lifetime warranty.
