: Leaf spring lift technique?

Okay, I'll try and give this a shot and if nobody gets what I'm talking about I'll draw some pictures... I'm really not good at word descriptions...

I was looking at the leaf spring suspension on the back of my 99 yukon today. It looks as if I remove the brackets holding the leaf springs and flip them over (Rotate them 180°) I can gain a few inches of lift in the rear. The only concern I have is that I'm not particularly familiar with leaf spring suspension (call me a n00b or a young'n, but my only experience has been with 4 wheel coil spring setups). There's a link, I want to call it a shackle but I'm not sure whether or not that's correct, on the rear coil spring mount bracket between the bracket and the spring, and I'm not sure if I'll be putting a stress on it that it wasn't meant to take. Any ideas/comments?

You're not the first one to think of it.:shaking:

Get us a picture....

Rough sketch, not to scale, not sure it's even remotely close to accurate, but it'll do until i can get my camera out there.

just an idea... but hell, its worth a shot.
see the spring mount on the LEFT side of your pic?

why cant you get another one just like THAT... put it on the RIGHT side of the pic... and invert the shackle.

(This is a serious suggestion honest) why not just invert the one on the right? you still need some kind of shackle.

Sorry I'm lacking in the shackle flip department.

odin.... if you use the same spring mount as is in the front of your springs, you will get more lift than weakening the stock mount in the rear.... and it will look factory.

the parts are cheap... you can get em off another truck in the wrecking yard.

Why do I highly doubt this? 12 more minutes & it'll be Wed. Thank goodness. :shaking:

Ah yes, now I remember why I stopped visiting this forum. Not a single one of you has an ounce of respect for the people who told you what you needed to know when you were first learning. Not one of you that I've run across can put aside being a know-it-all dick long enough to help someone out the same way someone helped you out. Why don't you just be honest with yourselves and sell off your 4x4s, flip your hats backwards and buy a honda to rice out. At least you'll fit in with that crowd.
