I am currnetly running a 241 with a 465 in my Blazer. I love the low gearing, but am worried that the 241 is a weak link. Is it worth losing the low gearing, and swapping in a twin sticked 205? I am not looking at a doubler yet, so that is out of the question. Should I keep the 241 and just add a clocking ring and a SYE?

y no doubler only? $400 bucks to d.d. machine and u have a Box4Rocks NP241/NP205 Doubler w/a final ratio of 5.33:1!!! If you really dont want to do a boubler yet i would say that your 241 should be fine they have been in deisel applications i think?

The 205 is way stronger than the 241. But I'd keep the 241, swap in the SYE, and clock it flat until you can do the doubler. I don't know you, but I think you're too :rainbow: to do any real wheelin', so the 241 should hold up :flipoff2:

P.S. search you fawkin' noob

The 241 will hold input torque all day. It doesn't like shock loading though from hard shaft breakage or getting rubbed on rocks. I cracked my front housing when I first broke a driveshaft, I subsequently had it tig'ed up after drilling both ends and it's held another breakage of the same type. I think that extra material from the weld bead made a substantial difference in case strength and if you have the ability I'd suggest doing it.

Otherwise mine is just fine tugging along my pig of a truck hidden inside my plated bellypan.

I'd love a 241 doubler but for the cost of a 32 spline Chevy round pattern 205, 32 spline output shaft for it, fixed yoke kit if you need it, rebuild kit and time to twin stick it all with the amazing low range of 1.96:1 it just sucks the will right out of me. I'd rather payout for a 2 speed STak, have the billet case and not have to spend all the time tearing into yet another project.
