Educate me on Windrock a little.
I was there about 5 years as a rider with a group of mild build jeeps. Didn't hit anything really hard at the time as it was a break in run from my brothers ride.
Down to business, We have a small group of 4-6 rigs that are planning a trip for Nov 9-11. Most are Yota based rigs, I'm the smallest running 36's. All are locked on both ends, Longfields, dual cases, winch equiped, caged, etc, etc...
What's our best option for lodging. We'd like a place to park truck's trailers and not have to worry about someone taking everything we own. Since the weather then is a bit unpredictable, we'd prefer not to camp, but it is an option.
Can someone give me the run down on the trails? We are a group that likes to push the edge in our rigs and have no concerns about body damage, but do it in the safest way possible and set out to have fun and get back with both us and our rigs in one peice. Looking to run Rattle rock for sure and I've heard some good things about the Rail Trail? Can someone give me the run down on the harder trails?
Also, since it is essentially our first trip down there (I am the only one to have been, and like I said that was about 5 years ago and were mainly on the bunny trails), would anyone be interested in riding with us/guiding?
As always, thanks for the help.

concerned about boddy damage? Stay off of rail trail and possibly rattle rock. If you have rocker gaurds you may negotiate RR without inciDENT.

As far as a place to stay, the Days Inn in Oak Ridge is the cheapest I know of. About $60/night and they have plenty of room for trucks and trailers. Never had anything stolen or even messed with while there.

Stay at one of the Hotels in Oak Ridge. Hit me up closer to time to come and I will hook up and come ride. I ilve like 20 mins from there. I will take you and show you RR and the rail trail then see waht you feel like running. ran rail trail for the first time last weekend. My buddys buggy beat for 20 mins at the bottom on 40 CC stickies then I went right up on 37 Krawlers. If it is wet you better be ready to beat. RR is a fun trail if you have never run it. We have ran it probably 20 times so it is losing some of the glamor it used to have. Hollar and I will do my best to come show you around.

Thanks guys. We're looking forward to the trip for sure. Always nice to hit a new place at least once a year. We've ran the hardest of trails Harlan has to offer (it was dry) without problem, hopefully, we'll find Windrock the same.
Toddy, I'll definately keep in touch. Thanks for the offer, look forward to meeting up and hitting the trails.

You Sir are correct. We have not ran any of those 3, and I'm 100% positive that my little orange yota isn't going to run Cream Puff :D That hill un-nerves me just watching someone else run it.
But I'll take you up on the offer next time I'm down to see the others.
BamaSahara, I'm sure we'll run into each other.

Ronnie bring you butt down and come ride with us. We always come see you and then have to see you running around town when you come down. Anybody made any plans for lodging? If some of you are camping I might come stay one night and have a few cold ones with you. Went back to Rail trail Sunday and it was a little wet but all 4 rigs that were down there got up. Took alittle more trying this time though.

Toddy, can you recommend any hotels that are close by? Probably won't be to keen on camping if we can get a hotel within 10-15 minutes of the park.
Toddy

They are all within 5 mins of each other. Illinois Ave. is where they all are. And maybe 1 on the Oak Ridge turnpike. You will be about 15 to 20 mins from the parking lot there. I think you can check out Coal Creeks web site and all the hotel info is there.

Any one still planning on coming this weekend?
Absolutely will be there starting Nov 9th (late morning)
Currently, we have 3 Yota based rigs running 36's to 38's, 1 Ranger Truggy, and 1 Zuki buggy (steering 60's f/r on 42, 4.3, th350). Also have a CJ on 33's coming down and looking for a couple smaller rigs to run with it.
You maybe the guy Droopy was telling me about (just read the sig line). I ask him about guiding as he was one of the founding members of one of our local boards/clubs. He said he was going to ask someone he knew running a Yota.

The best time I've ever had riding up there was after a monsoon that night, made RattleRock a throttle fest and got to watch people ride the cable.
We're just riding Sat. as far as I know, but if you guys are going to be there Friday, I may blow off work ,go up Thurs. night , and ride both days (barring carnage, that place is hell on parts). I'll just have to see how my work week goes.

Sounds good Greg, come on up and ride Friday with us if you can. We will probably be headed to the woods around 8ish on Friday. We are staying in one of the big apartments at the red barn. Arriving Thursday evening and leaving Sunday morning. Only two with us have ever been, so having someone to show us the way would be helpful. Ricky B is gonna be with us to take pics of everybody!
