The skinny: My rear driveshaft is at a 17.5 degree angle from diff to TF in the rear, after 4 inch leafs and 1.5" ext. shackles. both my diff and TF are parallel, i.e. the outputs are at 2 degrees off horizontal each, after a 4 degree shim to rotate the diff downward.
WIll this fly, or do i need a CV shaft? I can't test drive till i get a new brake line via mail order. my concern is for the 17.5 degree angle of the shaft, which equates to 15.5 degree of angle at the U-joint. Is this too much angle???
prior to shimming (and ruining my brake line) there was a driveline vibration that was new after suspension placed.
thanks.

For a stock TLC ujoint, 17* is fine. Go over 20 and you will have problems.
For the best source of information on this, email Jesse@highangledriveline.com
He can give you maximums for every Ujoint I have ever seen.

I had a similar situation to you, and had Jesse at HighAngle build me a CV driveshaft. I sent him the slip yoke and flange from my DS, a minitruck CV, and my parking brake drum. Jesse re-worked the minitruck CV to increase the effective operating angle 30* I believe, mated that to my Cruiser slip yoke, and re-drilled the stud location on the brake drum to accept the minitruck CV. Works great - no vibration -- and a good price - oh yeah, heavy wall tube on the DS as well:smokin:

How much for your CV shaft? I've been quoted $225 including balancing by Woody, and $265 locally. But, that was with me sending in only my shaft to have it converted, not all the other stuff you mentioned..don't these places normally carry parts?

I would ask them though what the operating angle on the CV is - stock is around 20* - like I said, Jesse re-worked it to get more (30* IIRC). I would think that if you are at 15* now you would want more than a 20* angle. HTH
