I went to Sunray today and progress is slow.:(

So far they have adapted the Atlas to the 4L60E and they have opened up the LT-1 to ensure that everything looks good.

As for the engine, the cylinder walls look nearly new. The fuel injection system and computer on the LT-1 is so efficient, that this engine with 70K miles on it looks new on the inside.

They have installed LT-1's with as many as 130K on them and they have never seen any problems with these engines.

I am glad I made this choice.

The COOL thing was the way they adapted the 4L60E to my 10 spline Atlas.

I had priced all the parts to do it the "AA" way and with the Partsmike.com discount I was looking at $750 in parts alone.

Sunray charged me $375 for the following.

They pulled the output shaft on the 4L60E, machined the shaft down and welded a new piece of metal over the old output shaft that is the same diameter as my 10 spline Atlas input.

They then shipped the shaft to Moser and they cut my new splines to fit my existing T-case.

On top of that, Sunray uses a 1" adapter versus the 4.5" AA adapter.

I love a one stop shop!

The engine drop-in starts tomorrow! :D

p.s. While I was out there, I added a "Shave" for my D60 to the work order.

Hell, as Butch (aka Texican) says, you can't take it with you when you go...

your front is already shaved right?
looking at the pics, it appears to have a flat bottom on it

shaved 9" would give loads of clerance right?, more than factory?

sounds sweeet

The front is a shaved 9" and it gives good clearance, however, it is the same as an unshaved Land Cruiser diff!

As for the rear, it hung down a full 2" more than the shaved front 9".

I will be able to get it within .5" of the front!

hey Nolan...do you own a couple oil wells out there in Texas or What? Sounds like a sweet setup!

Hell no, nothing that easy. I had to lop my right leg off below the knee with a dull Sawzall at work so I could collect disability.

Much easier than a couple of oilwells.

Nolen,

I thought you did it the hard way...traveled all over the country constantly, never see the wife and kids and associate with a bunch of a drug dealers with an advance college degree commonly called pharmacists.

You will really be able to tear up parts now..GET IT!

I am thinking late September...early October......

Are there any Aspens up there to see the leafs change? What month is that?

I know there are not that many trees in the Montross area, kind of why it is the only spot in Colorado not on fire, right?

That changes with elevation, and should be nice to see duriung that whole time - depending on how dry it stays this summer. We're not on fire here yet, and still plenty green. But the river is at Sept levels and algea is already growing!

Hope I can get finished by then, what a great way to try out the new rig with Kate showing the way!!:smokin:

Beggars can't be choosers!! Naw, had a great time! Eric V. and Steve F. and the Tornado Alley guys treated me well. And I had a blast. Also, Jeff Z. and Dom were sure glad that my Trooper was available for NAPA and Mickey D runs while they rebuilt a couple of diffs!! Besides, you were doing the family run when I got there!!:p
